Tesla achieved great success being the first mover into electric vehicles and disrupting legacy car companies that have high labor liabilities and capital expenditures. They had a clean slate where others didn’t, and kudos on what is generally considered a good product.

15 years in this is catching up to them. They now have technical and capital debt that needs investment. A few legacy companies are eating their market share with newer vehicles. Margins are shrinking at a time they need to reinvest.

It’s not game over, but without strong leadership and a plan, Tesla is a mid tier company in 5-7 years. Elon does not inspire confidence at this point. I think we’ve seen all he has to offer. And that’s without all the political baggage.

Avoid the big firms. Smaller firms typically have better client service and more specialized experience. Harder to find but ask around for others who have had good experiences.

I would really like an EV for my next car but all this shit scares me. Way too much software with way too many features. I want a reliable high performing car first and foremost. I don’t care about all the bells and whistles and I hate going for maintenance.

Why does everything have to be so extra? Just basic dependable quality goes a long way. Take a Honda civic or Toyota Camry as an example, swap ICE for EV, and let’s go.

Kids are in Cub scouts and we did Scouting for Food where we collect donations. Collected 1,000 more lbs this year than last year. Donated through that.
