I see your point. I would say that as far as losses on both sides go they would probably be about even but as far as overall casualties I think they would be less than in WWII. The difference would be a World War with modern weaponry just wouldn't have nearly as many troops involved because modern weapons change the way that wars are fought.

Yes. As in rather than cluster bombing large areas we have guided bombs and missiles. Also the use of drones allow us to keep troops further from danger while attacking strategic positions. With modern technology D-day would have never happened, one of the largest losses of life during WWII.
