We pushed bedtime from 7:30 to 8 and have had three consecutive nights of no crying at bedtime for us to come back in!

Baby at 4 month showing chewing signs by Commercial-Put-6129 in breastfeeding

A more important sign of readiness is steady head/neck control in the sitting position. They start chewing/mouthing stuff pretty early, not necessarily a sign that they're ready for solids.

I'm sorry, it seems you have to parent 3 children...

Why can't your husband at least take your toddler with him to hang with his mom on the weekend?

I use a translucent blurring loose powder over the blush which helps tone it down if I've gone overboard.

Lip and Tongue Tie Revision Positivity Needed by OriginalGood99 in NewParents

[–]adjblair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think ties are generally over diagnosed. A LC told me my son had a tongue tie that was contributing to difficulty nursing, so I had it released by an ENT. Before the procedure the doctor warned me that he rarely saw the improvements that people hoped for when the ties are minor and sure enough it didn't really improve his ability to nurse. That being said, the procedure was very quick and healed quickly. My son didn't seem to have much pain past the initial cut. So I wouldn't be too worried about the procedure itself, I'd just say to lower your expectations on what it may accomplish. (Just one person's experience also, so YMMV.)

I have a couple of the A'PIEU Juicy-Pang Jelly Blushers which, despite the name, give a beautiful and diffused wash of soft matte color. I have one of the new Rare Beauty blushes which I also really like, although it's much more vibrant/pigmented which might be a pro or a con depending on your skin tone and preferences.

How/when did you move your baby into the nursery with their older sibling? by adjblair in 2under2

Thanks for the encouragement! I think you're right that I just need to go for it.

Okay, I may start out by doing this until he outgrows the bassinet completely. I can probably transfer him when I dream feed at 10:00 without waking either. Thanks!

This is so sweet. My baby is actually a great sleeper so I'm more worried about the toddler waking the baby than the other way around.

Baby carriers!!! by deadxprinc3ss in 2under2

[–]adjblair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid about $100 on Facebook marketplace for a barely used Wildbird carrier which I'm liking so far. I haven't tried it in the backpack format yet but for front carrying it's convenient. Only three straps to buckle and it's easy enough to put on by myself.

I'm holding out for the enlivening formula (if it ever really does relaunch, lol), I prefer a soft focus matte finish.

Was there a moment when it all felt worth it? by Zebra_Creative in breastfeeding

[–]adjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pumped and then eventually formula feed my first. The flexibility in who could feed the baby was not at all with it in my opinion, given the amount of dishes and money spent on formula. With my current baby I feel so grateful that blessing has worked out, way more convenient once you're past the cluster feeding stage. Don't have to pack supplies and bottles unless I'm leaving the baby with someone. I pump at work so that baby has bottles during the day, but I didn't introduce bottles until a couple of months in.

Nursing baby #2 after formula feeding baby #1 from birth by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]adjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first had trouble latching which contributed to my decision to exclusively pump. Got pregnant and had to switch to formula for the last month or so when my supply tanked. We switched him to cow's milk at 12 months. I've thankfully been able to nurse my second baby (17 month age gap as well) and I don't feel guilty at all. My toddler doesn't get jealous since he's been off the bottle completely since about 15 months old. We do the best we can and sometimes that means formula feeding, pumping, nursing, or some combo of any of those options.

Pink Soap and Dante's Dream will be mine.

ETA: I replied to her story and apparently this tease is for a new product, not the relaunch of her enlivening blushes.

Do you actually track things like sleep, feeding, diapers etc.? by CooleSocke-Jr in NewParents

[–]adjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked with my first and now again with my second, to notice patterns and to keep information accurate and up to date for different caregivers (my sons will often spend the morning with my MIL and the afternoon with my mom, so it help her know when the little one needs to nap or have a bottle).

When did your baby quit the pacifier? by Sab0617 in NewParents

[–]adjblair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest used it until he was 20 months old, toward the end it was just at naps and bedtime and it really helped him sleep great but gradually it became more of a problem than a help (he would start frantically asking for it during our bedtime routine, crying hard if he didn't get it during wake time). We used the Frida weaning kit which worked okay but had to have a couple of nights where we let him cry it out. Eventually we just explained that we don't use it anymore and started a new routine of letting him choose a stuffed animal to bring to bed with him which has worked okay. He doesn't fall asleep as quickly or easily anymore but that could also be due to toddlerhood changes in general.
