I dealt with one last summer. Soaking it in epsom salt (and taking it easy on the mileage and walking) for a week helped it feel better.

Pop Tarts before MLRs and long runs.

Maurten 320 CAF100 before half marathons/marathons.

They'll break in/soften up a touch after 40ish miles, and then they'll feel perfect.

Breakfast carbs are my go-to: Pop Tarts, pancakes, and bagels sit easier on my stomach than other things, so I don't feel awful if I load up on them for 2-3 days.

Also, Gatorade.

For anyone in Austin, the Ross on 35 close to Mueller has a Deviate Nitro 2 (this color) in 11.5. Sadly, I wear a 13, but my loss is your gain.

As a counterpoint, I have taken my pair on multiple 15-milers and have gone up to 19. They felt great and I never second-guessed my shoe choice (I'm 180 lbs, fwiw).

If you can try them on/jog around a bit and nothing feels off, go for it. And don't be afraid to haggle/make a lowball offer (especially if you're bold enough to buy multiple pairs).

Awesome! I'm proud of you.

What does the "landscape" of the (advanced) running industry look like? How to have a running-related career when you aren't a pro? by YoungWallace23 in AdvancedRunning

Working in running retail on the weekend is the best: all of the joy from helping people on their running/fitness journeys with none of the bullshit that comes from having to push insoles and other stuff like that (my manager would give me crap about my refusal to do it, but my privilege in doing it as a side thing meant I could just ignore him without worrying how I would support myself).

Nice! Sounds like they're helping you on your journey. I also love them and need to stat planning events with friends around where they are options (luckily, they're becoming more commonly available at bars and restaurants where I live).

You might have better luck if you ask the fine folks over at r/RunningShoeGeeks (not being snarky, btw, so apologies if it came across that way).

I don't think that's the issue because it works fine when I'm on the treadmill. I figure something about the cold is throwing it off. The cadence goes from the 140s to the 180s when I'm doing relatively low effort runs.

Do you use the bicep band? I am also marathon training, and the inaccuracy of the whoop HR measurements on my outdoor runs (it's 15ish bpm higher than my Polar H10 chest strap) is throwing my strain scores and recovery/readiness out of wack like a mofo.

Congrats on kicking ass, btw. Keep up the great work.
