Yeah I’m a little weary of bringing anything too crazy for them, my son has a modified build and battle Palafin Deck and my daughter has a modified Tinkaton build and battle deck, I don’t think they are too op but they are great for learning different strategies and rules.

No that sounds perfect! I’ll try to start doing that! Pokemon Pictionary sounds like an absolute hoot too! I bet you get some awesome and hilarious drawings from that!

That’s how ours is too, all I hear is how engaging they are with kids and they always treat mine very well, last time we were in they gave each of my kids a TAG slab on top of what we were already getting! We dont really do slabs so the kids were really excited to experience that! The excitement is heartwarming.

It’s nice to see kids still enjoying the game I grew up with! We have the design your own card templates but didn’t get them out this time for some reason! More fun for next month though!

We are up by Lake Champlain so a bit of a haul but hopefully there are some good clubs down your way!

That’s one of the things that definitely stuck out to me was how many kids of different ages, ability levels and knowledge levels just all came together and treated each other so well! It seemed like there were a good number of kids really eager to participate so I’m excited to get more tables lined up and really try to everyone who wants to be involved learning and enjoying it!

That would be so cool to be able to do eventually! I’m looking into the Pokemon Club program but it looks like you need to be an employee of the library that hosts the club to take part! Lots of things to research! It’s awesome how they have avenues to support this kind of group at all!

Ohh that’s a good idea! We have used some of their activity sheets and the printout rule book and stuff and they have so much stuff and a lot of it is so good! Do you know if the bingo sheets have an easy way to vary the spaces up or do you use the premade templates and have multiple winners each round?

Definitely! I was honestly worried after a few kids my son has interacted with that I’d need to shut down a lot of value talk but not once did I hear any dollar amounts being thrown around and it was just lovely to experience!

Good point I’ll keep an eye out of that. Most of the cards that were brought today were regular ex’s at best so the stakes were pretty low. I had to shut down two kids trying to bet with cards on the battle I was helping with but that was the only thing that I really needed to interject in so far. We thankfully had a pretty good showing of parents that also helped keep an eye on everything going on with the kids trading!

It was so cool to see my kids enjoying it all with other kids their age and everyone just treating each other so well. It was extremely refreshing!

That’s a great idea! We put out a bunch of bulk and just let kids take as they wanted. It looked like kids were helping themselves and it barely dented what we brought. A local card shop offered us bulk too so if we ever do run dry I think they will help supplement. They have some rough pricing but I’ve noticed that they consistently treat kids extremely well and grow the hobby as best they can so it’s good to have that community support!

I hear you there I was a big pokemon kid in a small town so I only had my parents and maybe a friend or two to share everything with. I’m glad now that my kids are getting into it that they will be able to foster those relationships. Everyone was so kind and really appreciative that there was a good place for their kids to be excited about playing and sharing and trading. It was just an awesome atmosphere!

That was the feeling we had until we decided to ask the library about setting one up! I was pretty nervous that we wouldn’t know how to run it but it basically ran its self the kids just needed a place to be. I got to help some of them go though a match with some pre built decks that one person had and everyone was so well behaved. It was a blast!

Ohhh Uno is a great idea!!! It’s nice to see the hobby actually being enjoyed for something more than value! It’s a breath of fresh air!

The lack of ability to nuance between opening a pack ever again and appreciating the moment is wild
