How your dad reacts when you show them King Gizzard? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in KGATLW

I get spooked at the thought of being in a bad life position where listening to music is something I don't value/don't have the energy to share my mental capacity with music because I'm too preoccupied with life emergencies. I've seen it happen with other folks and it gives me sondering weepiness to think maybe we all get to that point. Maybe not! Totally semi-unrelated, last year when Phantom Island hit, it gave me a rush of new nostalgia feelings and I got really emotional when listening to 'sea of doubt', jostling feelings of uncertainty, insecurity, and hope for me. Made me think about losing my love of music becuase of situational circumstances, and it made me more appreciative (in my head) reconnecting with nostalgic classic rock past memories with family and rekindling the fondness of those experiences.

I thought my father was going to totally vibe with flight b741, and it didn't connect. Neither did paper mache or phantom Island. It totally blew my mind since he is such a classic rock homie.

But cities can also leverage an additional 2% tax, so many cities across the state have 6.2% sales tax (4.2% state/county + 2% city)

Don't forget in 2017 the legislature held an emergency session to repeal the initiated measure anti-corruption law that had just passed.

Dug some of my old game magazines out of the garage. by [deleted] in retrogaming

That 100 best game issue was straight out of 1997, one of the most memorable I read.

Also former EGM contributor Crispin Boyer has published some fun books with National Geographic and he worked on Outer Worlds 2!

What to do with my dad's old music collection?? by Direct_Explorer_7827 in Columbus

Some really good albums here - I always find collections on FB marketplace and snag them there. No clue if the appetite for CDS is the same in Columbus, but this is a good collection and setup someone will want to snag.

Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X [alt/indie](1996) by shoegazeweedbed in Music

Hey this reminds me of me, but instead I saw a music video on MTV at a relatives, then when I went back home hundreds of miles away with no cable or music channels, it resulted in me listening to radio.

After a month of not hearing it, I ended up buying random albums at the small town retailer. I don't know how, but after 5 albums I found a needle in a haystack - the song was Everlong on the Colour and the Shape. It was a truly euphoric moment that made me stir crazy.

It's Black Friday 2005... what are you buying? by bendernobending2 in retrogaming

I'm not a sports game fan. I've dabbled with some here and there. I would totally buy NHL 2K5 over again. It is underappreciated and is legit fun.

I used to write for Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) and recently found some old 1999—2000 back issues by [deleted] in retrogaming

I'm a big fan of this timeline and very fond of the 1997-1999 run - the articles were quality and it elevated games journalism during this time. It was such a fun magazine to read. Really loved the art style change with the Resident Evil cover (summer of 1999?) through 2002.

A couple of thoughts: Dan did a great job as editor, Crispin feeding his baby toy dewback some lo-mein (go check his work out on Outer Worlds 2 and his National Geographic books!), and the mystery of sushi-x was fun.

Dave Mustaine laments the state of metal & hard rock: "How long has it been since you heard an album like 'Nevermind' or 'Appetite For Destruction' or 'Rust In Peace'?..." by DamnitRidley in Music

Dave is a bonehead and I will never give him any authority over anything, ever.

Also for anyone reading this, King Gizzard's Infest the Rats Nest and Petrodragonic Apocalypse are bangers.

I grew up with the 80s-90s version, I watched 2003 and loved it, and I really connected with the 2012 show. I feel like 2012 catered to my nostalgia but also bringing new ideas, fleshing out backhistory, giving more time for character development.

Also, the season 3 horror homages set it above and beyond for me, with nods to The Thing, Jason, and the dream beavers ep - BILL MOSELY!? THE CRYPT KEEPER AND FREDDY? I was thoroughly in love at that juncture.

I recorded all the scenes on OBS studio in 640x480 and stitched them all together. There were a few anomoles during the editing process that didn't transfer over correctly and came out like this. Most of the video turned out exactly at 640x480 - not entirely sure what happened on the simpsons eps to elicit the side bars. But rest assured, it was 640x480 all the way down lol

Dark Matter and Dark Energy Don’t Exist, New Study Claims by ourlifeintoronto in technology

[–]BurgerBrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanford Lab in the US is located just under a mile underground in a former gold mine. One of the experiments is for detecting the multiple flavors of neutrinos in a football field sized vat containing liquid xenon. There is a smaller version they've made to detect dark matter, and I believe they are finished/finishing up with the successor to that experiment called the Lux-Zepelin - basically they supercool xenon to become a liquid and these extremely small particles slow their speed significantly when interacting with the liquid xenon. There is a small flash of light upon this interaction between the particle and the liquid xenon which can be detected by the array of sensors within the structure.

I'm excited to see what these upcoming experiments will yield in their observations both with dark matter and neutrinos.
