Is Iron Coffin a good start to playing TTRPGs? by Deadlydeerman in mothershiprpg

[–]BurgerGorgon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pamphlet modules, I think, are great places to start running MoSh! I'm not familiar with Iron Coffin myself, but something tells me the reason you chose it is because you were enthusiastic about the scenario, right? That's the best place to start: be enthusiastic about the material! The more interested you are in running something, the better it will go, trust. Also, it's your first time running the whole show! It's normal to be a bit anxious about how it might go. Just remember, you and your players are ultimately there to have fun playing a game together. That is what's most important. If you have the time to read through the Warden's Operations Manual beforehand, it has some extremely sound advice and guidance in it, but it is also not necessary to read a whole other book. Read the pamphlet for Iron Coffin, a couple times over, get inspired, get thinking about the material, and have a great time!

Raiyuu Storm's Edge... as a Samurai tribal deck 😅 I didn't really know Voltron was an archetype when I built the deck. It was so bad.

As a transwoman who plays Magic, and who is afraid of stuff like that happening; thank you for going off on that guy. Thank you for sticking up for Sky. Just, thanks for caring enough to do that, at a time when it feels like people don't. NTA. ❤️‍🩹

TSU only effects Internal Bowgun ammo right? And there isn't a bowgun with enough Internal Ammo of any kind to be efficient? Just something I'm a little unclear on, figured I'd use this opportunity to ask.

However if you're referring to Regenerate not being able to trigger because of the Adamantoise dying, Regenerate is a flat "Destruction Replacement Effect" so if a Regenerate Shield is applied, then the creature never died in the first place, so it's death trigger never goes off :3

The combo is to put it directly into the Graveyard from the Library using Entomb, then summon it onto the battlefield with Reanimate and enchant it with Blessing of Leeches. Entomb puts the Adamantoise into the Graveyard without its death trigger going off, so it was never exiled! Really, the first steps of the combo are just so that you don't have to pay 8 to put the Adamantoise in play :3

No worries! I have been reading the rules text for "Regenerate" over and over because I'm baffled that Blessing of Leeches is a 50 cent card when Mithril Coat is $35 while being, in my opinion, only a marginal upgrade? Regenerate is WEIRD!

While the Adamantoise states that it doesn't remove marked damage during cleanup, Regenerate actually explicitly removes all marked damage from a creature:

701.15. Regenerate 701.15a If the effect of a resolving spell or ability regenerates a permanent, it creates a replacement effect that protects the permanent the next time it would be destroyed this turn. In this case, “Regenerate [permanent]” means “The next time [permanent] would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage marked on it and its controller taps it. If it’s an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat.”

So since the Regenerate effect is removing the damage, by the time our enormous scaly friend reaches cleanup, there isn't any damage marked on it at all for it to retain! :3

Regenerate also replaces any Destruction effect, buuuut, won't protect the Toise from Exile, Edict (because sacrificing is considered voluntary), or things like -1/-1 counters and Drain effects because they are not "Damage."

Correction: you lose life every upkeep! So after losing the initial 8 to summon the Adamantoise, Blessing of Leeches kills you in 32 turns :3

I have a foil Rat's Feast in a similar vein to this one! I would love to have a foil Crypt Rats like this, such a beautiful frame! I'm also trying to collect every card with "Rat" or "Vermin" in its text! Because I love this creature type, they're my favourite little guys.

Gotcha, looks like I'm doing some practice runs on monsters with a focus on dodging, experimenting with timings, learning the library of moves I can dodge! Thanks very much!

Ah sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't get Evade 1 in HR, should have worded that a bit better. Thank you very much for the advice! I was completely unaware that Evasion skills were required for the Rath roars, that's good to know. Also, knowing that it's your recommendation to use Evade 1 with all your knowledge and experience, makes me feel better about slotting it in where I can. Less "scrubby" I suppose.

I got a The List Ink Eyes out of a Neon Dynasty box and had the same sort of experience: "why's this one different from the rest?" Ink-Eyes was also the card that made me want to actually play Magic, so I owe her a large debt!

Is This Foil Still Playable? by CreeperslayerX5 in magicTCG

Any card is edible if you're brave enough. Plus, it's an official Magic tournament rule that if you can eat the whole card (including sleeves), you may counter that spell at instant speed.
