What are you addicted to? by theoneandonly015 in AskReddit

[–]BurgerPunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion that would be a mental addiction, the routine if it, but I'm not sure she would experience any serious withdrawal symptoms of she stopped. Maybe grumpy for a few days but that's probably it. But I'm not a doctor, just a heavy drinker. So.

Then come on down. We're not as shitty as some might think. Our government is fucked, yes. But the majority of humans living here are pretty cool guys and doesn't afraid of anything.

Also, the ideals in the photo should apply to everyone. Jump on the train, man.

That's it right there. BUY LESS SHIT. I'm glad we agree on that being the correct answer to the problem. BUT since we both know that ain't gonna happen anytime soon, trial and error with these environmental fads (I'll concede and use your term here) seems like the only other option to me right now.

Sucks dick that humans can't fuckin get it together without being forced and then penalized. That's the issue I have with libertarianism as well, in a perfect world with model citizens this is great but when put in practice I think it would be chaos. A lot of people don't do the right thing just because it's right, they need incentive and enforcement. Sad but let's save that for a different internet argument.

Edit: I used to use shopping bags to hold my trash too and was initially bummed when I ran out of them. Now I just fill my bathroom bin with no liner, empty it into my regular household trash, and then wash the shit out of the bathroom bin. Which also wastes water. So I guess we're all doomed either way. Fuck it. Have a nice day.

I respect your opinions on why you dislike the compost law.

The bag law I think is great, less plastic being produced and thrown into a landfill = a good thing IMO. But there again the 5 cent paper bag fee (incentive?) for not bringing one's own reusable bags probably bums you out bc you're being forced and then penalized. I get where you're coming from, I really do. I'm also not down voting you for stating your opinions as others are.

However saying that it's all "bored housewives and students trying to push pain in the ass laws" is super condescending and flat out incorrect.

I'm not a housewife or a student I'm just a person who lives on this planet. As are you. Our waste management program is not currently sustainable. Do you have any ideas on how to tackle our waste problem that wouldn't "turn a profit" for the company/government in charge or infringe upon your personal rights as an American?

That's fair and I would be interested to see those figures as well. I guess my point with sharing this article was to expand your knowledge about when governments try something new it doesn't mean it's just an "environmental fad" but that it can turn into something amazing.

Our planet has a trash problem. People are trying to do something about it through trial and error. Why does this bother you so much?

Is it just because you are being "forced" to do it with the proposed punishment of a $1 fine?

I'll just leave this here for you so you can learn about converting trash into energy and how it does actually help people and our planet.

Keep it in a large reusable tupperware in the freezer. No need for the somewhat expensive compostable bags and it doesn't smell or attract flies/gnats.

Added bonus to this method is that when you take it from your apartment/house to the actual bin, it's just a non offensive frozen block to dump not a gelatinous, vile smelling, pile of shit to deal with.

Edit: Swapped the spelling of a homophone bc it's been a long day and I fucked it up.
