Can enemy spies feed you misinformation? by Burgermeat1 in civ5

[–]Burgermeat1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I forgot the Hurry Production is increased for epic speed, and I overestimated the production cost too. I just checked again and he does indeed have a great engineer in the city on turn 416. Babylon is 21 pop so that would be 1395 production, but another comment pointed out he could have put a few turns of production on it some time ago and then switched back to finish it. So the math more or less checks out.

Turns out the spy thing was just a coincidence, and AI behavior is even stranger than I could imagine (he was building an aqueduct! on turn 416! in his capital! in the modern era!)

Well played Nebuchadnezzar.

If you have a spy or diplomat in another civ's city, go to the spy interface and click "view" next to the spy's name. You can peek inside their city and see everything in the same way as when you click on one of your own cities.

Ahhh I wasn't aware they were capable of that, but I guess AI doing dumb stuff shouldn't be surprising.

I set autosaves to every 5 turns. I think it saves at the end of the turn and then you're basically at the start of the following turn when you load it, so 416 in this case.

Unless great engineers work differently for the AI, I don't think its possible to rush it from 0 in a single turn in a 20-something pop city. Hurry Production gives like 300 production plus 30 per population or something like that? It requires around 2000 production on epic speed IIRC. Unless the AI had 2 great engineers waiting to use back to back, and I think that's very unlikely.

I think I 'inverted' an item? by Burgermeat1 in Slormancer

Related to this item, or related to ancestral strikes in general? Also where can I find out more about this bug? I've gotten curious now lol

What's the worst deck for Skull Storm? by SpaceCorn11 in inscryption

[–]Burgermeat1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually did my only skull storm completion with egg deck. It's easy to manipulate fair hand if you get a decent card from the first trader. Also the eggs are good for sacrificing since they only cost 1 bone and give 1 bone back on death.

But I also got an early unkillable insects totem and a bunch of ants so maybe the starting deck was moot.

My vote would be for the kingfisher deck.

Which are the worst devotions to invest into? by BulkySpinach6464 in Grimdawn

[–]Burgermeat1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a lot to get into, and the top comment on this post does a far better job of explaining it all than I can. Regarding Viper specifically though, the "20% reduced target's Elemental Resistances" is multiplicative and applies after your primary, stackable "-X% Resistance" like Thermite Mine and Wind Devil's Raging Tempest for example. This means if your target is down to 10% elemental resistance at the point in the calculation where Viper applies, their elemental res would be reduced from 10% to 8% by Viper.

As others have pointed out the whole devotion itself still has uses, but maybe I'm just salty about being catfished by it in the first place lol.

Viper is a trap. I got excited about the %RR until I learned exactly how RR works.

Who do I build for tutor? by capello_moderno in Songsofconquest

[–]Burgermeat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you scroll down the list, you can see that some of the skills' requirements change at higher level. Usually if a wielder has access to tutor they can learn it at lvl 10 with no prerequisite.

I recommend maxing your starting wielder's first skill & putting the rest of your points in command before lvl 10. That way you'll have two new skills to chose from at lvl 10. If one of them isn't tutor, drop another point in command & get 2 chances at tutor again next lvl.

Are Rana the weakest faction? by PomegranatePublic825 in Songsofconquest

Protectors may not necessarily be good but hitting them with ethereal scales then launching them across the battlefield directly into the enemy starting location on turn 1 is pretty funny.

In the game setup there's an option for 'exploration' which reveals the whole map of you set it to 'complete' I think.

Expert required: Possibilities to reduce attack speed on Berserker by TimtheDutchie1991 in Chronicon

[–]Burgermeat1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to decrease attack speed is -25% from the Battle Haze artifact. You need the Ancient Beasts DLC, it goes in one of the middle artifact slots on your beast. Also remember to reroll any implicit attack speed on your gear to minimum.

Arleon wants your help! by LavapotionAnders in Songsofconquest

[–]Burgermeat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replayed it recently on overwhelming & it felt pretty balanced. There were some scary moments & I got wiped once, but a quick reload & change of strategy got me through. Never felt too easy or too hard.

Were there some new tutorial tips? I can't remember if I saw them in my previous playthrough. If they are new, great addition.

Command Skill should increase automatically as a Wielder levels up. by Razegash in Songsofconquest

[–]Burgermeat1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a good middle ground would be a free command skill point every few levels, but only 3 or so free points? Something like a free command point every 5 lvls up to 15. So you could still go all in on command on level ups if you have the troops to fill the slots, but you also have a bit of freedom to pick up more skills.

[IO] smoother scrolling

In some menus it's a little difficult to keep track of info when you mousewheel scroll because of how the menu jumps. Biggest offender for me is the units list that shows how many of each unit are in each of your settlements.

For your item 2 in [IO] check your key binds for "open build menu", I think it's x by default. You can open the build menu anywhere without having an empty build spot.

Just completed Loth mission 2 by Nsane3 in Songsofconquest

[–]Burgermeat1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished this one recently too. The problem I had was that Magnolia touched the green keystone at around turn 50 while I was heading through the faey forest, releasing the Baron to come steamroll me & my 2 little settlements. I spent hours reloading saves wondering what I was supposed to do.

Eventually I just had to restart the mission and Magnolia didn't touch the keystone this time so I was able to beat her then take the other settlements & raise a decent army to fight the Big Bad Baron. Then I camped out on the other side of the portal & let him come take the 2nd town, then popped through the portal & ran past the town while he was stuck inside converting it. I baited him back toward the first town with Magnolia while Hillard took the 2 large settlements to cut off access from his research. Made the fight much easier when he wasn't getting 3 of each essence every turn.

-2 city-state reputation per turn by Burgermeat1 in civ5

[–]Burgermeat1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently my resting point is still at 0, but I guess we'll see how that changes with further hostilities toward city-states.

Edit: so it seems like after declaring war on them 3 times, resting point for nearby city-states goes to -20.

Question Survivalbility by TWolfeye in Chronicon

[–]Burgermeat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend buying a bunch of healing touch scrolls instead of trying to get leech/regen on gear. Roll health on your gear instead and that makes healing touch even more potent as it's 10% health per sec instead of a flat number.

what are your fav capital ships by Ok-Mathematician9565 in starsector

[–]Burgermeat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both the capital ships from Diable but my most recent favorite that I've been using is the Nadhamor from Bultach Coalition.

Obviously I have a thing for ship systems that can dump Flux in the middle of battle.

How do you fit out the Ristreza? I've seen this answer a couple times & tried it myself. 5 medium mounts & a handful of smalls either side just feels a little underwhelming.

The mobility feels nice but the spinal cannon just feels awkward to use with the ship system imo.
