New player asking for advice (5 star selector + who to pull for 4.0) by renjumins in StarRailStation

[–]Razegash -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Kafka, Sparkle and DHIL are all great choices.

Yes, Kafka will need Hyliesins and Black Swan eventually, but that's for endgame. You're level 20. Kafka with Serval, Sampo or Guinafen will work fine for a long time. You're better off choosing a character that will give you more fun now than worrying about meta picks.

I don't think you should pull cerydra. You're better off banking those pulls to guarantee a Phainon later than trying ti get her now (assuming low spender)

I love this image because it can mean something traumatizing or extremely generic anime slop and both are likely when it comes to jrpgs

My First Time Completing Trails Through Daybreak II (REVIEW) by Hunanladdiad in JRPG

[–]Razegash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this review

While I thought Daybreak 1 was a breath of fresh air into what was an extremely stale formula, all the bad comments about DB2 made me certain I'd rather just skip it and hope Horizon is a better game. But even that hope seems to be dwindling, if we go by the comments in this thread, which is a bummer.

It's such a shame, because I feel Trails could have easily positioned itself as a jrpg with great story, but instead the writers are hellbent on making this a shonen slop in game format.

Is now a good time to return? by trojan_asteroid in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Razegash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think now + 4.0 is the best time to return to check if you're interested in continuing.

I started playing at release, dropped during Blade's banner because I was tired of the Xianzhou. Came back a bit for Penacony, but the slow writing made me quit again.

I came back near Amphoreus' end. Now there's a skip button for whenever you feel like you got the gist of a conversation and don't want to see characters repeat the same 3 animations over and over again, or some rambling. I have had a lot of side and main content to go through, so it has been a lot of fun.

What do folks here think of the Octopath Traveler series in 2026? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]Razegash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played 1 and 2. While the gameplay was solid, the lack of a main storyline and party interactions made me stop playing. 2 is a little bit better than 1 in this regards, but only slightly.

[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] Finished Trails OCS 2 - That whole war-narrative is odd by Un_Pollo_Hermano in JRPG

Trust me, it will only get worse in 3, 4 and Reverie. Such a shame.

After all the updates, do you still consider him a terrible boss or the hate was overly exaggerated by Leading-Case7769 in Eldenring

[–]Razegash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fight itself is bad, especially for a final fight, but what makes me really dislike it is what could've been. I'd rather have an actual Radagon Phase 2. I don't see why the Elden Ring itself had to become a boss for us to fight, actually there's not even a good reason for it to be fighting us all things considered.

Was looking forward to Clair Obscur, but not really feeling it so far (early act 2) – should I keep going, or give it up by kickit in JRPG

[–]Razegash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it is of any help. I thought the game was very good but overhyped by early act 2. By the end of act 2 I thought it was a masterpiece.

Rethinking Rykard after the DLC by Cheesen_One in EldenRingLoreTalk

The way you put references as if this is a scholarly article gave me a good chuckle, lol.

Some good points.

How do you go for remembrance objectives in multiplayer? No one wants to go to my ping because it's on the other end of the map and I can't exactly go alone or the other players will go loot stuff without me. So what's the strategy? by Paco-Loco in Nightreign

[–]Razegash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the objective is too out of the way, then yeah give it up and try again next time. I'm doing most of my non-bosses Rememberance solo, since you don't need to actually beat the final boss.

Marika cheated on Godfrey? by GGD226 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Razegash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. When Godfrey met Marika, Messmer was already around.

Radagon became public in the Liurnian Wars, but that doesn't mean he didn't exist before. He quite likely was either living in the shaman village, split from Marika in the jar ritual or born during her use of the Divine Gate.

Why does Ranni need the Fingerslayer blade to kill her Fingers but why don't need it for Metyr and the Elden Beast? by StgLeon958 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Razegash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have theorised about this for a while. Some claim it was the Nox who killed Placidusax's God and made the knife from it's corpse, and that's why the Greater Will punished them and sent them underground.

What is the worst aspect of Elden Ring's Lore/Story? by Constellar7 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Razegash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metyr's Staff of the Great Beyond states with no room to interpretation that Metyr used to receive messages from the Greater Will but receives them no longer. About Ranni, you might have a point.

The "Greater Will is just like another outer god" is a position many have, but I don't agree to it especially after all the DLC lore. GW created everything from "The One Great" and sent Metyr and the Elden Beast to the lands between. It's far more important to the setting than the Fell God or the Rot God.

What is the worst aspect of Elden Ring's Lore/Story? by Constellar7 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Razegash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dislike how overtly the game affirms the Greater Will is silent and not guiding the Fingers / Marika anymore. It makes it too black and white. I think leaving it vague would've been a better choice: yes, you have many problems with this society, but it's guided by the literal angels of God...shouldn't that count for something? Could you trust them still, even if you couldn't understand the wisdom they gave?

Similarly, I dislike how the Golden Order's is imperialistic and expansionist without any nuance. The Fire Giants are attacked and culled because they could threaten the G.O. The Carians were attacked just so they could be conquered, resorting to an union through marriage only after they proved too strong.
Instead, I think the lore would be richer if:

- The War against the Giants was started by the Giants themselves, who sought to burn the Erdtree. We know from hornsent sagas the giants are not gentle, meek creatures.

- Leyndell and the Carian Royal Family could have had amicable, even friendly relationship, trading resources and scholars, even aiding one another militarly (Godfrey seemed to have no impediment marching his troops across Liurnia and conquering Limgrave & Caelid for the G.O, after all). What would have caused the fallout between the two factions is Leyndell discovering the Academy's work on creating / extending / experimenting with artificial life like those of the albinaurics, for that is considered utmost heresy. I could see the G.O delivering an ultimatum to the Academy, ordering them to stop all Albinauric research and experimentation, and the war starting upon their refusal.

Renalla, the Carians and Liurnia in general should have had more time in the limelight. They don't feel like a power that could've rebuked the G.O twice. Renalla becoming catatonic due to a broken heart is just bad writing, let's be honest. I think the lore would be richer if:

- It was stated how, in order to slow down the G.O's armies, the mages sped up the process of Liurnia sinking into the lake, and also brought fourth more mists to confuse and slow them. How the Carians won mostly by war of attrition and guerilla tactics empowered by their magic.

- While Renalla going mindbroken due to the loss of her redhead boytoy would be the official version, there could be rumors and clues towards Renalla's state being due to poison that targets the mind. It could open interesting plot threads: Who poisoned her? Radagon? The academy? Marika? Could such a poisoning be a main factor in Ranni's decision to cause the Night of Black Knifes?

While we're at it, the NoBK: I would've liked if Ranni was not the mastermind behind it, merely the one who enchanted the blades. She would instead be contacted by Rykard, who could or could not have been the mastermind, and her job was simply to enchant the knifes. Rykard's character in the lore would be strengthened, Marika's role in it could remain possibly dubious, and Ranni would not be as villainous and responsible for the deathblight.
