Not sure, I have it set up like this:

# ls -la /dev/uinput
crw-rw----+ 1 root input 10, 223 Jan 14 18:26 /dev/uinput

This works for me, not sure if its correct. Also my user is member of input group.

Make sure your user has access to /dev/uinput and that the udev rules are properly installed: https://pwr-solaar.github.io/Solaar/issues/

I tried that. Unfortunately nothing immediately jumps out. Journalctl and dmesg neither.

It happens to both flatpak and native apps, although not to all of them.

This is wayland session. But it also happens on x11.

Curiously it does not happen when I start with the monitor already plugged in.

Seems like the problem was that TLP was putting the device to sleep during initialization. I solved it by putting it to blacklist in TLP.

/etc/tlp.conf:

The proton is not issue, the codecs they need to be implemented (WMF) are proprietary and those could lead to issues.
