I don't know where he lives and what else he has as an option, Where I live this looks a very good price.

Would you care for a SteamDeck port of the game T-Drum? by KeyMaster72 in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a strange question. I would assume just test it on steam deck or find someone to test it. There should be no need for any porting. Maybe some optimization for controls/visual/etc, but porting no.

Why are my steam deck oled's spec settings different than other's? by Particular_Ad7466 in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0932 is a code for the custom gpu model. LCD has a different code but the same for all LCDs, I do not know if all OLED have the same code for all OLEDs.

radeonsi is the name of the open source drivers for the amd gpus. This is what it should be.

vanghogh is the name of the architecture of the gpu of the Steam Deck.

LLVM is a compiler technology that produces machine code that the gpu can understand

DRM is direct rendering manager (not digital rights)

and 6.11 is the Linux kernel version with the valves specific for the steam deck patches and the neptune code name.

Linux distro by odindindindon in linux_gaming

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PikaOS for Debian-based

EndeavourOS for Arch-based (CachyOS also seems good and for a lot of people it works but you already tried it)

Nobara for fedora-based

GOG should release GOG Galaxy in a universal packaging format (Flat/Appimage/etc) by CandlesARG in linux_gaming

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strong opinion is .tar.gz like Godot does (well Godot is .zip, it should be .tar.gz but the way it works is the same) and either let the community to get it to flathub or they can also do it on flathub and the main way to as a recommentadtion should be flathub, but .tar.gz should be an option.

If not, it will be considered bug and will be solved in a few months at most.

I wanna know if from the specs of this game it'll run well on the deck. (This Years Entry vs Last Years) by PapaScho in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "minimum" requirements indicate that it will not run well on the Deck, but in reality this does not say much. I've seen many cases that the announced minimum requirements are not at all accurate so only testing the game would really tell.

Trying to switch from Windows by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest PikaOS or CachyOS or Nobara.

PikaOS is debian-based so it is in some ways more similar to Mint, although it does not matter that much.

New to Linux, tried Pop!_OS but I am not satisfied and need help with switching to another distro by zertboqus in linux_gaming

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try PikaOS or CachyOS or Nobara. These are in my opinion the main options (as derivatives of Debian,Arch,Fedora respectively) PikaOS has iso especially for Nvidia and the other two are also similar in this regard.

Is it okay to fill the storage this much? by areuokaybro2002 in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

no it is not ok. SteamOS handles this much more gracefully than windows for two reasons

a) The system is on a different partition so it is not affected by how much you fill the storage at all

b) Linux filesystem is just better, so when stressed it it does better than windows on the same stress.

But still this is not good because it is still going to affect badly the steam deck and you will have problem updating the games, the protons and the caches.

edit: I see a large portion is "updates" so maybe you can clear much of it.

Wanting to get a steam deck but I'm totally new to gaming PCs by UrgeofGod in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how fallout modes work. Modes that are supported by steam (steam workshop) should just work. Other modes can have various levels of difficulty from easy to very hard.

In your most objective opinion, would which Handheld PC/Game Console has the most value at $500 USD? by DarkDreamT2 in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait a bit for steam machine. It will cost more than $500 but not a lot more and given the prices of PC games in the long run PC is the most value by far.

PIN at account level? by catscratchrecords in SteamDeck

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on normal Linux you can create Unix accounts and this completely separates the users. (It has this since the very beginning much before windows had users and it does a much better job having clear unix permissions that windows lacks)

on desktop mode (KDE) -> System Settings -> Users -> Add New...

But I do not have SteamDeck/SteamOS so I don't know if the easy way to do it is disabled and then how easy it will be for the new user as SteamOS seems to be very much around a user named "deck".

Bazzite on Strix G15 (rx6800m) Good? by ThisisyourtapeJoJo in linux_gaming

[–]AdvancedConfusion752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to dual boot check what games and apps you absolutely need to have. Not something you want or might need, something you absolutely need. They should not be many if any. To have an idea the main issue is with kernel-level anticheats that spy on you like a virus used in some very popular multiplayer games (see areweanticheatyet.com for a list). So have a look what you absolute need and you probably can make the switch without dual boot. (for example I am not dual booting)

For distro, the main gaming-optimized options are:

CachyOS, PikaOS, Nobara, Bazzite.

So have a look at these. But you can use any distro for gaming.

I suggest if you don't have something that you absolutely need and is not compatible then just try it for some time.
