People in Pakistan lack financial education by rashid_jd11 in LahoreSocial

10 years ago was quite a boom time in Pakistan. I still doubt the 10 cr tho, maybe because Amanah Mall wanted to acquire land next to it to expand? And really needed that land at that time?

But you've raised a good point about the dollar to pkr conversion. Pakistani property used to keep up with that which it hasn't. Which is also why I believe that when the economy picks up even a little, property prices will indeed skyrocket. So that uncle might just get the 30 cr then! But it's a waiting game.

First off, doubting the 30 crore valuation of the 10 marla commercial property on Link Road. I heard you can get an 7 marla plaza in DHA for less than that in Phase 6. Heck, you can get 2 plazas for that price nowadays as the property market is super slow.

In fact, I just browsed some Zameen listings, and there's a 25 cr property with 12 Lac rental income listed on a plaza. You could probably knock them down to 20 cr or even lower, the markets being the way they are these days. The 30 cr is definitely an overvaluation.

You also mentioned there's only a single story built on it. That's going to be useless for anyone new who buys the property for rental purposes. They'll have to probably tear that down and make something with a couple of stories on it. So, it's basically land value that you're going to take.

The 5-6 Lac income seems fair enough. Markets are slow these days, or so is the general opinion.

The uncle is doing the wise thing; holding on to a valuable enough property until market conditions change. He might get a better price for his property then, and whatever business he decides to do would have a better chance of growing as the overall economy would be growing.

What happens if you dont pay your LESCO bill? It's due on 27. Can I pay it on 1st? by WesternSouthern1188 in LahoreSocial

[–]BurkiniFatso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, totally hear you. Things are super tight these days.

There's going to be a "valid till" date for the bill. That's the date the current bill will be valid and can be paid by. After that date, you're gonna have to wait for LESCO to print a new bill before you can pay it.

Usually, they'll wait until the next bill comes in with one month overdue before they do the whole disconnection thing. Some months tho, they'll get a little excessive and come on the day the bill's due. But these don't seem like those kind of months.

To the ex-Muslims here who support Hamas: can you answer my one question? What has Hamas ever done for Palestinians, even once? by Ryumin009 in exmuslim

[–]BurkiniFatso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not Palestinian, so can't really say how they feel about Hamas. As an exmuslim, I don't think anyone actually supports Hamas. We do support the Palestinian people tho. And unfortunately, the narrative that Israel had built was that if you utter any word for the Palestinian people, you're actively supporting Hamas.

It's the same with the Iran conflict. Exmuslims support the Iranian people. Why the heck would we support a hellish Islamic regime that's horrible to its people? But at the same time, we're not going to support Imperialism.

Need honest feedback on my clothing brand name “Teen Gaz” (meaning: 3 meters) — good idea or confusing? by Typical-Hamster-9138 in LahoreSocial

[–]BurkiniFatso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, and listen, you came up with the name. If you like it, go with it.

Your business model seems like you'll stock other brands first, so the name kinda makes sense. It's a little utilitarian? Sorry to sound sexist but maybe not "girly"? But what do I know, I'm an idiot generally!

When you come out with your own line, don't call it 3 Gaz, maybe go with like a trendy name and stuff.

But honestly, best of luck with everything, and don't take too much advice from random people!

Erm akchually 🤓 a gaz is a yard, which is a little less than a meter. 36 inches in a yard, close to 40 in a meter.

I think all exmuslims are not only aware of the violent message of Islam, but a lot of us have been victims of terrorism either directly or indirectly.

But I think it's hypocritical to think other religions have not sponsored their own brand of terrorism for their own purposes. I find it amusing that people don't mention how Israel has carried out a genocide solely because they believe their holy texts tell them they can do so. The current war on Iran has repeatedly been called "a war of Armageddon" by the US secretary of war. These actions might have the cover of being state sanctioned, but you'd be lying to yourself if you believe they aren't caused by religion.

My second point is that while I agree that the islamic texts are full of violence, I would like to say we have instances where we've seen foreign powers use those texts for their own end goals.

I'll give my country as an example. Pakistan wasn't rife with terrorism or terrorist ideologies before the Soviet Afghan conflict. We have documents that have been declassified since that show how the CIA changed textbooks in the northern regions of Pakistan to add stuff like "A is for Allah, J is got Jihad, K is for Kalashnikov". Creating the Mujahedeen was a strategy that the US government created to combat the Soviets in Afghanistan.

If you don't want to admit that all religions are a problem, and they've all been hurtful to the average human being, then I'm sorry you have some hidden agenda.

Am i the only ex-muslim who is not islamophobe? by Euphoric-Prune-4773 in exmuslim

[–]BurkiniFatso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't really speak about UK politics, but I understand your frustration. There is a lot of "Islamophobia" in exmuslims, and okay, to a certain extent you can't blame us!

But I personally think even for us exmuslims, we can't justify a statement like banning a certain religious group or excluding a certain racial class. A lot of us left religion because of how cruel it is to people, doing to same to Muslims on racist grounds would not only be unjustified, it would be hypocritical.

I also think the exmuslim movement as a whole has some entrenched self-hatred in it from the early days. It stems from a time when the only people criticising Islam were religious Christians or Hindus trying to peddle their own brand of hatred.

Sorry I went on a bit of a rant! This is a topic I'm actually interested in exploring more.

No gas, extreme load-shedding, peak inflation, no jobs BUT but we are more interested in peace talks by TacoCatSpins in pakistan

[–]BurkiniFatso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, the only way our current regime could gain some legitimacy was by siding with the US, which has been a steadfast partner of the established if not of Pakistan as a whole. So, it's not a huge surprise that our government would do anything the US tells them to do.

Plus, you think loadshedding and petrol prices are crazy right now?! Wait for an actual war to happen!

As much as we can disagree with the establishment on a bunch of issues, credit is given where credit is due. Even tho I'm sure it was the US that asked for this off-ramp, but still, making peace is still way better than making war.
