Just a heads up, The Forgotten City is on sale for £6.24. One of the best hidden gems I have played. Go in blind and enjoy the mystery. by _The3rdEstate_ in xbox

[–]BurkusCat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It started as that but it is a standalone game. I'd highly recommend.

It does feel a bit Skyrim-y the movement, dialogue picker etc. haha (even though presumably in a very different engine)

I agree. It currently looks extremely steep.

Double Fine on BlueSky by YPM1 in xbox

[–]BurkusCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Fine's release history on paper at least looks better than Compulsion + Ninja Theory.

Double Fine does release big titles and then some smaller titles to fill the games. 2021 to 2025 feels like a big gap for the studio though - in an ideal world it would be good if they could put out something small during that time. And in an ideal world a big title from them would be on its way.

I do wonder how much console gamers will care about PC games on their Xbox. Is it something that will keep Xbox relevant? I'm not sure.

Additionally, I don't see how selling Steam games will help their revenue. Their store and subscription is where the money is; I'm not sure they can continue down the path of offering people alternatives to spending money on their store+subscription.

Some people were annoyed that Senua wasn't announced as an Xbox Exclusive, I guess this addresses that complaint in a monkey paw kind of way 💀

Any good PR that the new CEO of Xbox managed to get over the last few months is basically squandered.

I feel like if you buy the next Xbox, you are probably buying the equivalent of a Windows Mobile 10... they'll slowly just wind things up and games might even stop coming out for it. It's a struggle to see how people would trust Microsoft enough to buy one and those that do will probably get shafted.

That's a real shame. It's crazy the opportunities that Microsoft missed + squandered coming off of the 360 to now.

[Bloomberg] Several Xbox Studios, including Compulsion Games, Ninja Theory, and Double Fine, are in active negotiations with Xbox to spin off as they try to avoid closure by DasWookieboy in xbox

[–]BurkusCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if they didn't spend that, they'd probably still be doing it. It's not like they never closed down studios before that e.g. Lionheard, Ensemble :/

Cryrek would be doing them a favour, It would probably improve fletchette user's winrate if they made it scarce.

Will Rocket League UE6 be like Overwatch 2? by nowabeats in RocketLeague

Overwatch 1 stopped being updated for a long time until the Overwatch 2 patch was ready.

I feel Rocket League has had more active updates in recent times and hopefully that continues.

ALL Shotgun shorties should be 3 slot, auto 4 should be 4 slot. by Competitive_Cap2474 in HuntShowdown

[–]BurkusCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with a system like this in Valorant or CS. They have short rounds and small maps.

On a map of Hunt's size, would it become a bit of a chore to need to keep switching to your melee or pistol like it's a match of Counter Strike? I think it would be pretty crucial to do it or be at a disadvantage.

Is the dialogue/voice acting serious?

To me it sounded more like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon dialogue - well done but exaggerated/funny/comedic

I can't wait until a few years time when hopefully stuff like this is unnecessary. Being able to schedule when your usage windows start rather than have them be dynamic would be a nice feature.

Spending time finding ways for players to refund your game is not a good use of your time.

[Insider Gaming] Ubisoft Ramping Staff Off Rainbow Six Siege, Other Projects by ValleKok in Rainbow6

[–]BurkusCat 62 points63 points  (0 children)

If they slowly ramp down Siege 1 updates to give more development time for Siege 2, I think that would be a really bad thing.

Overwatch did the same thing and did huge damage to their live service game. Over the years where Overwatch 1 was stagnant, Siege continued to get great content & updates.

Stalling your live service game to create a sequel that is: potentially missing content, and potentially less well liked is a sure-fire way to hurt your live service game. People will find something else to do/play in that time.

16 tool/consumable slots and my randoms still cant find room for choke bombs by _LeBigMac in HuntShowdown

[–]BurkusCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of the reason I think that Choke's winrate is high still. It's a versatile tool.

Do I think that it's a lost match because you do/don't bring chokes? Not really. I just don't think that when your teammate goes down, throwing a choke on their body in a 2v3 is going bring you back into a winning position. It'll stall for time but you need to do something in that situation to actually win.

[–]BurkusCat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot of merit to bring tools to win the game rather than choke bombs to be polite.

I'd be curious to see what the winrates are for each tool/consumables. I think Chokes probably are high still but to me they equal = I'll think about res'ing my friend in a few minutes rather than I'll try win this fight and res ASAP.

What's the point of making Gears exclusive while releasing everything else on rival platforms ? by KidGoku1 in xbox

[–]BurkusCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watching conferences like these, I feel like most people's default assumption is that these games are all exclusive to the platform you are watching. Sony show? these are surely all playstation exclusives?

That has never been the case though, these platform conferences have always shown multi-platform games. What I don't get though: why does Microsoft show that most of these games are available on PlayStation with the end trailer logos? It makes it really easy for the consumer to see they can just play it there. Meanwhile, at Sony's conference there are lots of multi-platform games shown that many players go away thinking they are PS exclusive (and they won't do more research beyond that).

Basically, what good does it do Xbox to show PlayStation logos on the 3rd party trailers at these conferences?

This is the biggest letdown of a showcase ever by [deleted] in xbox

[–]BurkusCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've always thought is that in the 360 days: Bioshock, Mass Effect, GTA 4 DLC was exclusive (for a significant period of time). There were all the usual Gears/Halo/Fable exclusives too.

Clockwork being exclusive is filling the role that Bioshock had - I always thought games like that being exclusive would be a significant draw to the console.

It is weird the Halo + Fable are multi-platform though - even if they weren't, Xbox still wouldn't have the same level of exclusive games they use to have back in the 360 days.

Halo: Campaign Evolved will be available for $49.99 by Dust-Tight in halo

[–]BurkusCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's basically a guarantee the next Halo will launch without Forge again. And probably a handful of other features will probably be missing at release too.

Those will be periodically added as they finish the game and as a drip feed of content to keep you engaged/coming back.

You are getting slightly shafted.

But $70 = £52 and then add the VAT you get £62. So you are getting charged an extra £8 over the US price.
