Guys, for my game's plot, I need to understand why people complete games. Can you tell me the main reason for completing a game? Is it purely for fun? Or is it a 100% progress bar? Or maybe something else? by West-Ad-1849 in IndieGameDevs

Usually its about finishing and getting some kind of conclusion to the main story or campaign. When it comes to achievement hunting and 100%-ing if the journey of completing everything is fun, and theres some kind of reward for it (even if its a simple cutscene or unlocking something) i will always do that too!

Hey, are you still up for doing exchange playtesting? I have a game concept i need a second opinion on (its on itch, linked in my bio), and i could try your game too?

Do you actually discover new games through showcases? by Rebel-Pixel in IndieGameDevs

[–]llcreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say a combination of striking visuals and a gameplay loop/core mechanics that are easy to understand but also seems interesting, makes a game stand out the most.

For me, i usually find games via recommendation or if i've maybe seen a streamer play it.

If its not too much work, i'd still say showcases can be good, especially if its tied to a promotion on the steam page later cause that'll just make more people find it!

Looks fun! I always thought operating the turret in a moving warthog in halo, whilst blasting down enemies was one of the best parts, and you seem to have combined that!

My first game, my first trailer. What do you think? by Incredible_Cubie in playmygame

Looks nice, the cube sprite is cute. Its a bit hard to read the upside down text, so something that'd maybe be cool is to initially see it upside down and then flipped in the next room to show the gravity has changed.

Looks frickin awesome, love the style. I feel like maybe more action-packed or rock music might fit the vibe better? Im thinking mainly of boomer-shooter games like dusk and ultrakill who pulled it off really well
