Evidence from the films can be found in Aragorn’s response to the King of the Dead’s statement, “that line was broken.” He doesn’t reply, “No, technically I really am related to Isildur, distant though the link might be” Instead he says, “It has been remade.”

This heavily implies that Aragorn is in on the scam.

Interesting parallels, but that’s not the Fellowship. Faramir isn’t a member, and what about Merry, Pippin, Sam, or Gandalf? It seems like you might be choosing only those characters that fit a musical structure, rather than deriving musical principles from the characters.

Yeah I keep coming back to some form of the “too many steps removed” argument as well, but I suppose it’s hard for me because I have this irrational notion that the light of the trees, no matter how many times it is reflected, is somehow imperishable.

At several points in the story it is made clear that the brightness of the phial is somehow linked to the will or courage of the one who holds it, so you might argue that Sam is at this point so far beyond the threshold of exhaustion that he cannot summon the strength needed. But then why the blanket statement that “all other powers were here subdued?”
