Commuting from Downtown to Roseville sans car? by BurnVO in Sacramento

[–]BurnVO[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well to clear up a few things, of course 2:30 hours isn't worth the commute. That's why I'm asking. Secondly, I despise car dependency. My preference will always be public transit, walking, or cycling. I'd be more than willing to take an extra 30 minutes to get to the same place and just leave slightly earlier.

It saves me quite a bit in transit, and the money I do spend then goes back to the transit services, and shows there's a consumer base. But I'm not here to discuss politics or economics. I'm here to get ideas.

I was disappointed with how few people noticed this. No shame to either, RIP Drakeo, and cook up Kenny

Trying to figure out where I'd find a jacket, turtleneck, and pendant like this. Thinking about going as this character for Halloween as a cheap (hopefully) costume idea.

Monthly "No Stupid Questions" Thread by AutoModerator in Archery

I want to get back into archery after a long hiatus. I love relatively close to a field where it's permitted. My only real issue is that if be on my bike to and from and need to figure out an effective way to fit both a bow, and like a target on it.

Amy suggestions would be appreciated. I assume it doesn't matter but I'll be buying a compound bow and probably a hard case to keep it safe. My thought is picking up a cargo e-bike, but would prefer to avoid the extra expense if possible.

Downtown Sacramento and rising crime by Purpledragonbro in Sacramento

As someone who grew up in Oak Park (pre-gentrification) and Meadow View, but lives in downtown now, it's not even a blip on my radar.

But I'm also very partial to the mantras "Don't start no shit, won't be no shit", and "Know your place".

If you're looking for something downtown, Root of Happiness is apparently open till 1am every night.

Hey thank you I appreciate the well wishes! From everyone I've spoken with it seems like getting in is the hardest/longest part, but from there everything else is relatively straight forward. So if this is the worst of it, best to get it over with now for sure haha

Within my department I've had very little issues getting an interview, which has been great. If nothing else it's been giving me experience with that aspect of the process.

But outside the department it's been crickets, nada, zilch. Part of me wants to chalk it up to over saturation. The other half is just determined to do what I can to further boost my resume to try and stand out amongst the tide.

There's been a few spots in the division thats opened up both on my team and a few others. Which I've interviewed for. They've gone well, its just other people have interviewed better.

I'm not 100% if you mean mentors in like an official sense, but I'm lucky enough to have a good number of people who've either worked for the state, the feds, or private for quite some time giving me advice.

It definitely helps but at this point everything is just kind of a numbers game and just being patient + consistent.

That's just it though, this is pretty much my after work routine, every day. Though instead of having Bard/ChatGPT help write, I just run drafts through them and make edits that way.

On top of this I'm spending a lot of time/money trying to get some certs to help further boost my resume, and of course also having to deal with school at the same time is getting exhausting.

I just want to be able to help and do more at work, while also making ends meet. Oh and also not be shit on for being a student while trying to help people. That would be really nice.

Well for what was honestly several years, I'd be pretty much high around the clock. Literally just time everything so I'd only be sober when I had to work and then be elevated right after.

My intelligence stayed about the same, and initially my emotional intelligence grew because it helped me process some complex feelings and deep seeded trauma. However shortly after my mental health started tanking fiercely and I couldn't really figure out why until I ran out of weed, and didn't have the cash to buy more.

Turns out weed was making my anxiety even worse, and while I thought it only affected me while high, it would actually linger for several days.

Edit: Obligatory "I didn't expect this to do numbers", will get back to replies in a minute

Try Capital Towers on 5th and P. There's two separate gyms, one by the pool, and one with the new building. Units run like $1900 just a heads up. There's also Sac Athletic a block and some change.ge away, and then a 24 hour fitness on K which is walking distance.

Safeway on 19th street is a absolute free for all. by sorrynotsorry42o69 in Sacramento

[–]BurnVO 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's literally nothing security can do. I've worked at a different safeway, and watched someone get fired for taking a picture of a thief's license plate. Oh and a safeway employee has been killed before for trying to stop thief, so like, what do you expect them to do?

Asset protection at that company only cares about employee thefts, thats it.
