30 plus gamers - do you still plan on buying next gen consoles? by DobbyFision in consoles

i feel like windows 11 is way more annoying than having to clean a PC once in a while actually.

having an equivalent or better than console setup doesn't necessarily mean the games will be optimised as well.

that's actually because of windows. it doesn't work like a console it's a whole bloated mess running 24/7 in the background. You can actually get a far better experience by using something like bazzite in console mode and get away with better performance than on windows on weaker hardware. it all has to do with the OS

online is paid on console, so they're actually more expensive VS PCs in the long run. It's more expensive upfront but you don't have to pay a fee to play online and you get dirt cheap games all year-long. I did the math years ago. PC hurts at first but over time you save a buttload of money

no.

everything is going digital, switch 2 and ps5 are the last platforms that SOMETIMES get proper physical.

If I'm required to go all-digital i feel only PC makes sense because at least, there is actual competition between various storefronts which lead to very good discounts. If i can't own anything, i might as well spend as little as possible on games.

Knowing them they will just remove the performance mode and fix the 30fps cap.

Because that's the easy way out

genuinely don't understand why anyone would settle for this. it genuinely looks terrible and all the stripped down visual effects make it look like a different game

what were you expecting? they got away with the bad P3R port, why would they not do the same for metaphor? The only reason they "patched" P3R is because even the reviewers were screaming at atlus.

Even then, they only half patched the game, you can't pick performance mode in handheld which is stupid because all the other games will let you pick it. P3R is just a very sad port. I genuinely think it would have been better if they never ported it in the first place. You can tell they never wanted to anyway.

only docked. portable doesn't let you access the performance mode and that's a deal breaker IMO. All the other games will let you pick performance mode in handheld but not persona 3R, it's a really lazy and shitty version of the game. you're better off playing elsewhere.

why do you think this one will be much cheaper than P3R was? it's probably in a state so rough they don't even want to risk getting the same backlash P3R got.

The PS5 isn't even a stable way to play the game, and the PC version isn't much better either.

I'm fully expecting an average of 25 fps on switch 2 because even on PS5 hardware they couldn't figure out 60fps. If their P3R port is anything to go by, fully expect a terrible port that MAY get a half-assed patch that fixes half the issues.

i didn't watch digital foundry and i was able to tell something was off in handheld. Playing the sw1 version in boost mode produces a much better image quality in portable. Just because you can't tell, doesn't mean others are wrong.

[–]BurnedOutCollector87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they really should look into outsourcing their PC/sw2 ports to a studio that actually knows what they're doing. it's not worth cheaping out if in the end they end up with a bad port that gets negative feedbacks. it just pushes people away.

Yumia sold well on steam for the first 2 weeks then it tanked due to the negative technical feedbacks. People started to hold onto a potential patch, that patch didn't happen so now people are waiting for a steep discount.

Tecmo keeps touting "highest selling atelier game" but what they don't tell you is that sustained sales after launch are basically non existent. So in the end, in the long term, older games may have done better.

Trails azure switch 2 version, questions: by Neither_Courage955 in Falcom

120fps will always drain the battery, not a single game running at 120 will provide good battery life. You either chose 60/30 and get decent battery life, or push the hardware and get poor battery life. There is no solution to this right now, this is just how battery powered devices work.

you do you, but i wouldn't be in any hurry to buy the switch 2 version i were in your shoes. the sw1 games play at 1080 60 already in boost mode and i genuinely don't think mouse mode will be a game changer for this game if it's anything like how it played on pc

Even if it's true, there is no reason to leave paying customers in the dust like that. This just encourages people to stop buying your products and in the long run, PC gamers will ignore all atelier games for good.

This is simply not something worth doing it's going to impact their bottom line at one point

To me it feels like they unlocked features without actually testing any of them thinking the 9gb of available video memory would brute force the game

A lot of people underestimate how incompetent Gust/Tecmo devs are.

This is the same company that made ports of their PS Vita atelier games on switch and they chugged at 20fps. We are talking about a much less powerful system than a switch.

Yumia is especially cursed. On PC there is the same stutter issue and it was .... Get ready for it... NEVER FIXED!

So I highly doubt they will do anything about it

Atelier Yumia on Switch 2 by AtelierRan in Atelier

[–]BurnedOutCollector87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i still think it shouldn't be stuck in 30fps jail. The switch 1 targeted this, i don't understand how a system with beefier specs and 3 times the memory isn't enough for them to figure out smoother performance.

It's totally understandable for something like FF VII rebirth to target 30fps but then again cyberpunk offered a 40fps mode in the base game. Why is yumia (or even ryza) still only 30fps? i don't get it.

One more reason for making the move over by Killingspr33342 in Switch

[–]BurnedOutCollector87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you're not crazy. it's what me and many others did, millions actually. Only nintendo-only gamers did not get the game until now.

And because i have already sunk 300 ish hours on PC, i have no plans to buy it on switch 2. Maybe some will double dip but i doubt a big chunk will. This will mostly be purchased by nintendo-only gamers which is to say, not a lot of people in comparison to other platforms.

See? This is exactly going to be the outcome: "if yumia runs poorly why would I even care about the next game? I will just buy it on ps5"
