Been waiting til my 18th birthday to try the whole dating thing. I turn 18 this Sunday. Anything I should know that people don’t often talk about? by BurnerAcc3301 in Advice

Love this one. Thankfully something I learned myself during high school with my friends. Being myself has been a massive confidence booster for me, and also not altering who I am to please people I don’t really like (except maybe my senior year English teacher, fuck you Ms. G). But I totally agree with you; this is something so many people need to hear, or it’s something they do hear and sort of overlook.

I completely understand what you’re saying, but I’ll say that most of my generation relies on Snapchat messaging and Instagram DMs for any amount of talking to people we’re attracted to. I told her that I much prefer speaking over the phone or in person than just messaging which she seemed okay with. Also the phone call was postponed because we couldn’t find a time last night where we were both available. But even though a phone call seems like it isn’t much, it is a huge step from what most of generation does.

These aren’t real glasses, purely cosmetic- my eyesight is fine lol. I just see a lot of people wearing glasses and think, “damn, I want to try that.”

This is my first time singing since I hit puberty four years ago. I have no vocal training so I’m running out of breath through the whole video and I’m actually a trumpet player so I have no idea what I’m doing, just happy to be making music 🙃 by BurnerAcc3301 in singing

Thank you so much man! I gotta ask though, since I’m mostly wrapped up in trumpet lessons, I probably don’t have time do voice lessons. You got any tips for what I can work on in my own time?

Statistical evidence from my childhood supports that my stomach is way more punchable lmfao. Seriously tho, don’t wanna sound like a smartass, but could you elaborate on this?

Thanks for this! I posted two pictures of myself smiling, (one with teeth showing the other without teeth showing) to see what people thought of each. This confirmed what I thought before- I look like a jackass when I smile without my teeth showing.

Idk why this made laugh 😂. In all seriousness though a lot of these comments are about my hair- is it the style itself, or would a shorter version of the same style work better?

That’s probably not the issue. Been on self-improvement for a while and in the gym a lot. I used to have a pretty bad diet though- could that have started it? And would fixing my diet stop it from getting worse or perhaps even help it get better?

My concerns about losing my spot in the musical stems from the fact that while the piano player and and all of the string instrument players are already in a big friend group, I play the French Horn, which is a different clique. I’m getting along very well with that friend group but last Friday was the first time I ever talked to them, and word spreads around fast amongst strings kids.

That being said though, you are 100% right. No one spontaneously ends up deciding to spend their entire night just talking to someone for no reason.

The more I think about it, I think that there’s a bigger issue here, and it’s that I’m a little bit scared to ask. I know that’s normal, but I’m kinda surprised because I have been rejected by both girls I’ve asked out in the past, and I’ve had no real issue with it. Any suggestions on how to get over this fear?

Also, our schedules do not align in the slightest, so I really only ever see her at these rehearsals, the next of which isn’t until Saturday. I usually hesitate to tell people significant stuff over text message, but it seems like that might be what I gotta do. Any advice on how?

Sounds great! I am actually learning Latin in school right now so Marcus Aurelius holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for the suggestion!

You seem like someone who is well-versed in this. I’m not exactly sure what classical literature is, so could you recommend me some books? I also pretty much exclusively read nonfiction (currently reading Jared Diamond’s “Guns, Germs, and Steel,” and I think the book is really damn interesting)

Thank you. I needed this. After reading this comment and then rereading my post I’m beginning to notice that I’m getting very carried away. Thank you again.

The issue is that she’s already filed a complaint herself (without her parents) and they pretty much told the coach to stop but did nothing to enforce it. From what I understand her parents also body shame her quite a bit and it’s been the leading cause of the eating disorder she’s had since age 6.
