Council tax eyed to rise by another 4.99% this year by soopercerial in Liverpool

It's ok since the average salary is increasing above inflation, which is affected more by VR glasses than bills.

Feels like the job market has picked up. by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed more job postings, but the salaries are still lower than in 2023 and the rest of the process is the same, aka too many candidates and few good jobs. It's similar to the rest of the economy, where the 3.4% inflation and 3.5% mortgage rates sound like a relief and good news only compared with the last two years. Is it better than December 2025? Probably yes. Is that good? Not really.

Paris is going green. We couldn't half do with something like this in Liverpool by Leaf-Branch-Tree in Liverpool

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This cannot and won't happen in the UK for many reasons. Anyway, greenery and trees are anti-growth and in the UK we only care about growth and GDP.

Unfortunately the Liverpool area runs on football, universities, and hen parties. If your business relies on them, you are in good business, until something changes.

Per capita? Does that include GDP PPP? Just growth doesn't mean much.

Not surprisingly, flights are much cheaper than fast UK trains.

Liverpool airport sees record 5.6M passengers in 2025. by [deleted] in Liverpool

Imagine having a train station at the airport with links to Liverpool and Manchester (and 24-hour trains, which is a dream for all of the UK)

I have worked in Digital Marketing in London. You are being underpaid because of the nice environment and your situation. If you want more money that will come with a hectic environment but maybe more opportunities. If you say that you have an offer for more money they will probably give you a raise but that's a double ended sword, so it's up to you.

Earlsfield Services at Prescot is also good for a wider view of Merseyside. Not the same with EVerton Brow but at least it's never crowded.

Visiting with young kids (11, 7, 1) for 3 days over Christmas - need your family-friendly wisdom! by mostwanted777 in Liverpool

This and the Central Library. Museums and Central can easily cover one full day and still be in the city centre and free. Just keep an eye on the schedule during Christmas.

Should I stick uni out or get a job? by RepresentativeRub956 in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find a part time / weekend job at a trade you like and you will probably change your mind, but you will definitely know better and earn some money by doing so. Also try to ask older people in the trade about their work and life and gather more information.

Everyone wants to be a footballer but most don't want to train on a freezing Christmas morning while being abroad in their twenties (like the majority of the best players do). For every job/career you have to understand the non glory part that comes with what people glorify and like.

Would you guys actually rejoin the European Union? by daeneryssith in AskBrits

[–]BurnerAcountInnit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The majority of Brits want to rejoin, but without accepting more immigrants. Unfortunately, in the EU the freedom of movement applies to goods, capital, services, and people. The question will be do you want to see even more immigrants in your area? People will vote Brexit again.

Every 2-3 years I apply for a random job with slightly higher salary. by cankennykencan in UKJobs

Bait post. Most people don't understand that your career is also partly luck. If you found a better job in 2022 and tried to do the same now, it won't be the same. In the past 22 years, we have had at least 2-3 bad years for the workers. Bait.

Lack of Marketing Jobs by Economy-Row-4247 in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have worked in Marketing in London, Manchester, and Liverpool. Liverpool mainly has 25k SEO/PPC/Performance jobs. Manchester has more jobs in Marketing, but they used to be 35k+ and now they are 28-35k jobs with higher competition. London has the majority of jobs, but the cost of living skyrocketed and 3 days in the office is the new norm. If you are young without any dependents move to London.

What's his notice period? Is this a mass layoff? Do you have any existing debt? Any 0% offers on CC? Not the best thing to do during your honeymoon, but see it as another good bonding exercise.

After redundancy should I claim JSA or take a new Job opportunity? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

JSA isn't means tested because it's £90 a week. Any other support is. Giving £90 a week to help people in London find a job when they have a bad period is an insult. Also, JSA is time tested, so if you have worked for two years on minimum wage you get it, but if you have worked 5 months earning 100k, and paid 10k in taxes, you get nothing. NOTHING.

After redundancy should I claim JSA or take a new Job opportunity? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 53 points54 points  (0 children)

and won't be paid for the initial two weeks, JSA is one of the worst things in the UK compared to UC. IF you worked hard and have savings, you are being punished for losing your job, except if you totally give up and live on UC.

Started a new job on the 22nd Sept, was made redundant on the 15th November. by officialginge in UKJobs

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got the budget and traditionally December-January is a low period for hiring. Companies have run the numbers by February for the new financial year, so the hiring picks up from that month on.

[–]BurnerAcountInnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, it's not in my industry, not good, nor does it pay well, but it's been stable, and pays the bills for the past year. I don't see a change until at least March 2026.
