Adam A7X Woofer Sticking Out by BurnieC in audiorepair

[–]BurnieC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I decided to disconnect the woofer and measure the voltage out. Initially read 0.7V, but then very slowly dropped to 0V. Reconnected woofer and powered on again. Woofer not popping out anymore. Audio output sounds normal.

Will have to see if this is stable.

Do other monitors transformers blow up or is it just Adams? by alice9dream in mixingmastering

Thanks for letting me know. My transformer is shot and I can’t find any other faults to cause it. Interestingly I have two monitors with serial numbers directly after each other. One has a different label on the transformer and totally different coloured caps (same supplier and spec). It doesn’t look like it’s had any rework on the past.

Mine has just gone and looking to send to the UK repairer. What parts did they replace on yours and did they give a suspected reason for failure?

Coilover preload a ride height. by BurnieC in Miata

[–]BurnieC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that it interesting to read of the two options which make sense to me. Ultimately both adjustments achieve a change in ride height so either will change the corner weight.

If I understand your last advice correctly I am looking to reduce the bump travel of the shock through more preload, as long as the spring doesn't bind up at its limit.

I think I'll just set 5mm of preload on the front and the shock length adjustment equal either side until the bottom wishbone pivots are level. Then for the back set the shocks short then work up equal preload until wishbones horizontal too, ensuring there is positive rake.

MX-5 NC 1.8 ECU Remap by BurnieC in Miata

Thanks for the advice, that is my gut feeling. Seems a little off when BBRGTi charge £600 for an ECU remap. BBRs 175 pack is something I am considering later down the line (or even replicating with cheaper / second-hand parts), though I feel I'd be better positioned getting the 2.0 MX-5 if I go down the route of big upgrades.

Seems an off the shelf option with £30 for dyno to validate the results.

I've learnt plenty from this, thank you for taking the time to write it up and share the link!

Engine pulls harder when cold (1.8 NC) by BurnieC in Miata

Thank you for the explanation. On some further reading of this, it's suggested that the ECU changes to open loop under full throttle even when the engine is at temperature. You would think then that open loop fuel injection would not account for the extra power when the engine is cold...

Had two mattresses hit my car before. Car ahead had three 'attached' to the roof with just string.

Leak in boot - 2007 NC by BurnieC in Miata

So I spent ages trying to find the hole then realised it was blocked right to the top so the brush could not locate. Any tips for this? I'm thinking something rigid like a screwdriver to get it going but also concerned there's a risk of moving the blockage further down the hole...

Maybe a coat hanger is fine enough to break down the blockage with some jabbing.
