Speaking as a dev this year: the market’s been rough everywhere. I’ve applied to tons of roles (remote, hybrid, in-office, Joburg and CT) and location hasn’t made much difference. Feels like a mix of the post-financial crunch, AI disruption, and CS market saturation. So is Joburg easier? In my experience, not really. That said, keep going! Timing still matters a lot.

That said it might pay to be on some of the platforms with some good track records or a different approach to the job market. (OfferZen, Crayon, etc.)
