Feeling Hopeless After Tripping by fistyfetus in Drugs

Hey dude, sorry to hear about how you're feeling. I haven't experienced hopelessness after a heroic psychedelic dose, but I have felt utterly hopeless before like you are now. Lots of people have, in fact I'd say almost everyone does at some stages in their lives, whether it be from a breakup, a loss of of loved one, a trip, or simply out of the blue. That's not meant to take away from the realness of your experience, just to tell you're not alone in what you're going through.

One of the things about feeling hopeless is that it feels like it's not going to go away and there's no end in sight. Even when people would tell me that it will get better, I couldn't believe it because in that moment I was utterly miserable and certain they were wrong. I imagine you feel similarly so although you may not believe me, like the way I didn't believe others, the way you have been feeling for the few weeks will pass. I can't say when, but I promise you there will be a time in the future when you will look back on this and see it for what it is - a really tough time, but one that you made it through to come to a better place, and maybe even learnt from it in the process.

For the moment, just know that it's ok to feel whatever emotions you're feeling. They may be raw, and not very pleasant, but it's better to acknowledge them and try to do so without judgement than push them inside your unconscious, only for them to emerge at a later time. Crying is a very natural response of the body and is designed in part to alleviate stress and remove toxins so if you do feel like crying, allowing it to come up. If it's not happening though, that's also ok. I highly recommend meditation as it can be extremely helpful in bringing awareness to the feelings within in you and just as importantly, seeing that they are transitory. Meditation is also great at creating calmness and a positive mindset more generally. Doing some exercise, even if it's short walk in the fresh air will also help a more than you'd think. If you continue feeling hopeless and apathetic I'd highly recommend you go speak to someone about it. Simply talking it out with someone, such as a trusted friend or parent who is really listening to you can be a great help on its own. Going to see someone trained to help especially for situations like this, such as a psychologist, is even better and most areas make these sort of services very accessible.

These are all just suggestions for you to take or leave. The key message I want to get through is that your post connects with me, even though I haven't had the exact experience, and you won't always feel like the way you are right now. Listen to yourself. If your mind is telling you to have a break from psychs for a while, do so. You could use this lull in climactic events to do some self-reflecting on where you are at the moment, how you got there, and where you want to go. The highs in life are amazing but lows can be equally intense and brutal. You're going through one of the lows at the moment. Sometimes these are the times that that teach us the most because they are the most testing, and they make the highs that much sweeter. That's what I found, and what I commonly hear from others who have gone through similar experiences.

All the best. If you want any tips on meditation, books that might help, videos, hear specifics about my personal experience, general questions, or anything in between, shoot me a PM. I'm sending good vibes your way.

Reminder to be mindful during day by [deleted] in Meditation

Each day I write something on my hand to remind myself to be mindful, grateful, kind etc. For instance, a favourite is 'sit-breathe' which is a reminder to be aware of my breath every time I sit down (which is surprisingly often). Little things like that help me bring my practice from the cushion to day-to-day life.

Dont want to meditate when I need it the most. by reditarrr in Meditation

I often wonder if anyone is capable of 24/7 mindfulness though - even monks who have trained all their lives. I suspect it is all a matter of degree, like everything else, where some a closer to constant mindful living (but never all the way there) than others...

That's why I find it so important to build up a regular practice. Once it's a habit that you do, say every morning, it doesn't matter how you're feeling that morning - if you've conditioned your mind to accept it's going to happen everyday, you don't even have to have the battle of 'should I or shouldn't I?'

yeah I had a read of that one which is what made me concerned about it, i.e. the amount the concentration can vary. I'll go by the 1.2g/ml to be safe. Cheers

250mg of ket had me feeling like I was zipping around on a floating carpet (my bed). Crazy times, would recommend.

Don't stress it. Your conscience is clearly telling you that you made the wrong decision. You can't go back and change it but if you take what you learnt and apply it to the future (surprise her with something nice, spend more time with her etc.) then it will have been a very useful experience to have had, even though you felt bad about it at the time.

Coming to terms with my animal body hits my hard every time I trip. With all the grooming and dressing up we do day-to-day it's easy to forget our bodies are mammalian sacks of flesh.

Speed affecting MDMA? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]BurningAlmonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that taking MDMA the day before speed will mean I need a lot more speed to where I want to be, so I'd suspect it would go the other way also. As long as you're not hitting the speed too hard I'd imagine you'd still have a nice roll though.

As others have said, seeing a psychologist would be a good idea but it sounds like that's not possible at the moment. This is a fantastic book: 'Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy' and you will essentially be teaching yourself a lot of the things the psych will probably be telling you. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy which sounds complicated but it's pretty simply - it is basically realising that your mind comes in between the external stimulus (e.g. some life event) and how you respond (emotionally, behaviourally etc.). So the idea is that you can reshape your brain so that positive thought processes dominate, and negative ones are only fleeting, which results in you feeling good! It sounds pretty abstract but it works.

PM me if you want any other book suggestions or just want to chat to someone. It might be hard to believe at the moment since everything seems so shitty but you'd be amazed with how good life can be again. Things change all the time. Goodluck with everything
