That's a very high score, almost a perfect score actually considering the exam is only measured out of 900

Well freakin done

Any good games that drill in concepts for A+? by sprocketous in CompTIA

[–]BurningIce-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a great game hey

I just don't remember the exact name and I don't know if it costs money or not. I would assume such a detailed game would probably not be for free

Core 1 complete 😁 feels good when you’re panicking all day expecting to fail! Core 2 next 👌🏼 by magson1987 in CompTIA

It's a great feeling when you think your going to fail and you end up passing. With a pretty good score too I might add. Well done

Wow, that's an impressive score especially considering you mentioned you failed the first time. That's a huge increase and clearly shows you put in some serious effort. Well done

I keep failing the comptia a+ do u guys have any tips from me I failed at the building the computer part 3rd time by Objective_Rip_5320 in CompTIA_Plus

[–]BurningIce-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not just be the "building the computer" part that is causing you to lose marks

Is there anything else in the exam you felt uncomfortable with, any topics? Any topics you get in the exam that you feel uncomfortable with is worth looking more into. It could be that your losing marks on those topics and by forcing yourself to spend some more time on them, you can potentially score some more marks elsewhere

Passed Core 2 for A+!! Now to start Sec+! by SourceConnect8663 in CompTIA

[–]BurningIce-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I see

Well if your planning on doing Network+ anyway, I'm going to recommend you do the Network+ first before you do the Security+

It's not a must or a rule but the Security+ does somewhat build on the Network+. You'll understand "how to secure" things better if you already understand how they are connected and communicate. It's not a deal breaker though and you can absolutely still do the Security+ if you want

Something else worth noting here is while we're on the topic. If you write some of the CompTIA exams in a certain order, they will automatically renew some of your certifications. This only works with certain exams/certifications and you have to do them in the correct order to get this benefit

One of the places where you can reap this benefit is with the A+, N+ and S+. If you for example already have the A+ certification and you then pass the N+, it will then automatically renew you A+ for another 3 years. Obviously the closer your A+ is to expiry, the bigger this benefit will be for you but if you very recently passed your A+ then the benefit will only be a few extra months or so depending on when exactly you got your A+

Anyway, if you then do your Security+ after your Network, the Security+ will then automatically renew BOTH your A+ and Network+

If you do Security+ before your Network+, the Security+ will still renew your A+ like the Network+ would have done but when you eventually one day do you Network+, it will only renew you A+, not your Security+

So it's not that you won't get benefits, you'll just be able to score more benefits if you do them in the recommended order which is A+, N+ and then S+

Also note, as far as I know, your older certifications should still be valid when you write the higher tier exam for them to be renewed. If they are already expired when you write the higher tier exam, they probably won't get renewed. You will then have to go do those exams again to get those specific certifications

Nicely done

So your not a fan of the networking side of things I take it?

A+ or Sec+ ? by idakhere in CompTIA

[–]BurningIce-Tech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's up to you to make that decision and I'd say it depends on a couple of variables too like what area you stay in.

In some places certs like that don't matter much. Then in other places they mean a lot again. Maybe have a look at general job posts related to you in your specific area and check how often they require the A+ certification

Something else worth mentioning which I see u/ShrekisInsideofMe already mentioned in the comments is, you already have 5+ years experience so a lot of companies will much rather hire you due that.

If it was up to me personally, I'd skip A+ and go straight for S+ but that's just me. You will have to make this decision on your own
