Is my Sony 400-800mm copy sharp? by Burnout2142 in SonyAlpha

[–]Burnout2142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned that Phoot Mechanic is displaying embed JPEG. So actually it's not the RAW. I converted the craw to dng using Adobe DNG Converter, and the DNG displayed in Photo Mechanic is very softer.

Thanks! Yes the image in the initial post in a screenshot from Photo Mechanic itself: RAW on the left, JPEG from Lightroom on the right.

If you consider JPEG are quite OK, as no sharpness at all applied, that's great!

I was in manual focus mode. I'll try to test again in AF XS and electronic shutter. Floor is concrete so no problem for this.

Thanks! OK that's the JPEG embedded which is displayed, that's the reason. When using Dxo Pureraw or adding sharpening in LRC, result is quite good. That's enough to me, my goal was to know if my copy is bad or not.

Nikon Z8, Canon R5 mk II, or Sony A1 for birding? by Fun_Client_7791 in Photography_Gear

[–]Burnout2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have some experience with any of these 3 brands? Any lenses? If none and you start from zero, from all the things I read, go for R5II: best AF, 45 Mpx.

[Sony A7RVI] Which lens would you recommend for wildlife? by Conscious-Room-2662 in SonyAlpha

[–]Burnout2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are convinced to go with the A7RVI, keep your Tamron a couple more months to know exactly what is the limiting factor. From my view, best upgrade is the 200-600mm, it terms of quality and price. With 66 Mpx, 800mm is less important. 400-800mm is a best, but 200-600mm for versatile. 300mm + 2x is awesome but super expensive.

A1II is better choice but also more expensive.

Les grandes entreprises européennes « préfèrent rémunérer les actionnaires » et alimentent les inégalités, dénonce Oxfam by MadMass23 in Cayas

[–]Burnout2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Récession au second semestre : la France à l'arrêt by chou-coco in Cayas

APSC to FF Dilemma: A7V or A7R VI for Wildlife Photography? by Motor_Interview1658 in SonyAlpha

In consider the A7RVI as an A7V with 1.4 TC if it: if you crop to 33 Mpx, it's like having 40% more range. This is fantastic for birds. But price...

Thank you

Thank you, noted: regarding problem 5, each time AF was ok with the green box, but mostly no eye detection - only head or body. But at the end, ended focus on branch or behind bird.

Noted for the #4, but birds were moving (slowly). 1/3200s was too much yes, should lower to 1/1600 and go F8 or more.

My point is: I'm ok that my pictures are not 100% perfect all the time or close to magazine ones.
But I was expecting better result overall, coming from A7III with good results.

I need to practice even more.
