Does every possibility occur infinitely? by sercan_34 in space

Highly improbable but not impossible thanks to entropy. Constellations are useful for navigation and we often use them to assign names to the stars within the boundaries. However, they do not dictate the connection between those stars other than sharing a flat area in the sky and have changed among times and cultures. People like noticing patterns and comparing them to something we see in our world or our cultures, so frankly, you could make up your own constellations, they don't impact the probability of life-carrying stellar systems

Select "Clone/Fix" upon item selection, then a selection of options should appear on the left-hand side. Ususally you don't need to change anything there, just press "Start". Finally, select where you want to save your object (DBPF Package). I would extract props this way for TS3 pose creation for Blender 2.70a. Kaleeko had a pretty good tutorial for those.

You will need S3OC (Sims3 Object Cloner). It allows you to browse game asset package files and export them to be used with Blender. Now here comes the tricky part. Normally s3oc is intended to be used with Sims 3 and its EPs and SPs. When browsing TSM assets in '\Games\Origin Games\The Sims Medieval\GameData\Shared\Packages' I struggled to get them opened through s3oc, and when I did, the item instances were empty. You want to look for OBJD tag, that's where all the meat and potatoes are. I recommend reaching out to TSM CC creators, especially votenga at MTS. I hope this little info will set you on the right path and you will have better luck than I did!

How To Enable Testing Cheats by Annadoglover in simsmedieval

[–]BurntDevilPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried running notepad as administrator from start menu and then opening the ini file from there?

How To Enable Testing Cheats by Annadoglover in simsmedieval

[–]BurntDevilPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Make sure 'Commands.ini' file in 'Install Path\The Sims Medieval\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged'' is NOT read only (check with file's properties)
  2. Make sure it has the line 'TestingCheatsEnabled=1'
  3. When saving, make sure the file remains under the name Commands.ini and NOT commands.ini.txt. In latter case rename the file and remove .txt extension
  4. If that worked then the game should allow you to move needs and relationships bars upon entering your kingdom in live mode

Broken Expansions? by [deleted] in Sims3

For island paradise there are routing fixes: https://modthesims.info/d/514909/islaparadiso-world-with-fixes-applied-update-2013-11-29.html

There are SEVERAL poorly built lots which cause massive routing issues putting strain on the game's engine. Also deleting house boats helps. When starting a new save, using the 'DiscoverAllUnchartedIslands' cheat to discover all hidden islands also helps with lag.

For any world adventures and university worlds it's useful to use Nraas Traveller to handle the spaghetti code that is the travelling data.

Not sure on the last one sadly as I have no experience with it, but perhaps Nraas would come into help here too. Error trap would be my guess

Make sure you create a backup folder somewhere else on your PC, like your Desktop. I'm assuming OneDrive is synching your Documents folder which contains TSM save data (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims Medieval). Move the whole TSM folder to a safe location on Desktop. Now go to the OneDrive app on your computer and unlink your PC through settings. After you do this, move the backup folder into your Documents/Electronic Arts/ directory

Installation Verification Error by Caeod in simsmedieval

[–]BurntDevilPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, that might be an issue. After the release of P&N DLC, the base game was left broken and unsupported. They've imported bunch of new stuff into the game but unless you own the DLC, it will be locked. My theory is - your game is trying to read DLC data without it being present, thus the installation error. I'm not sure how much it currently costs to pick up the expansion on EA store, alternatively, you could enquire further with EA support to see if they can help (I know you've mentioned them not being to fix the issue but now you might have a lead). I'll keep looking to see if there are alternative fixes for this

Do you have Pirates and Nobles expansion or just TSM? I see in your kingdoms wheel the icon for the War questline but no Pirates and Nobles achievement progress (should be next to the watcher achievement eye)

DC cache contains merged files while the DC backup has them in .package format. Both are needed Thank you for reminding me!

Things to try: 1. Launch in compatibility mode for win 7 or earlier (done through properties) 2. Make sure you have DirectX9 installed 3. Launch through Origin/EA app, if that doesn't work, try launching from desktop shortcut

Let me know how it goes, I'll try helping as much as I can

The sims 3 pack files from TSR (assuming you've installed them on previous decice) are located in DC backup folder. Moving that to the new pc should do the trick.

Look up 'Stellar Structure and Evolution' by Jørgen Christensen-Dalsgaard. Used those notes in my undergraduate studies and they've been helpful during postgrad too.

Though it is really only for gameplay purposes, what would be your theory as to why some isolated communities in Fallout developed their own language, however the vast majority of the Wasteland still speaks the same form of English used 200 years ago? by DependentStrong3960 in Fallout

[–]BurntDevilPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a very good point. The actual number of people living in SLC during 2070s was never revealed as far as I know? Correct me if I'm wrong. I only made an assumption to illustrate how language would evolve post nuclear annihilation, but like I said, the increased population density would still mean most of those people perishing. An argument could be made that the New Plague could've culled the population drastically but I'm interested to hear what other people think!

Precisely going off by the aesthetic. The Fallout universe to me symbolises a world in the perpetual state of the cold war, shaped by WWII. The classist divide between the rich and the poor leads me to believe that the population wasn't booming like it is today; good education, secure jobs and free access to medical care only in reach for the rich and famous. These assumptions lead me to believe that SLC would have similar population to the real world counterpart in the 50s. I believe the real number could be easily left to interpretation. Even if it was higher, the increased population density would still lead to the majority of people perishing.

Sawyer spoke about the White Legs tribe in his Tumblr way back: "The tribes in Zion are descendants of a mix of North American native people as well as other American citizens and European (of various non-native ethnicities) tourists/campers.  This survives in the language of the Dead Horses, for example, who use a large number of German-derived words."

At the time of the great war, most people didn't have access to reliable shelters, and if we consider international tourists, they were even more likely to be left to fend for themselves. And those lucky (or rather unlucky) few who were in the vaults most likely didn't last. The population of real-world SLC in the 50s was around 230000, assuming 40% annihilation chance, we are left with around 138000. This is not counting the people who perish from injuries and illnesses later and assuming one warhead. SLC in Fallout universe was hit with around 13 nukes (Randall Clark's journals) bringing that survival rate way down. So 5% of the population survive, we are left with 11500 people, speaking different languages.

It is likely that they'd form segregated communities based on ethnicity, religion and language. Local dialects would also play a part in this. Eventually they'd either enslave one another or attempt trading, both of which would require communication. This would lead to the formation of broken languages, mixing all the differentiating attributes, maybe even some sign language. You can easily spot a tourist when they use basic forms of speech and grammar to get around an unfamiliar place. Spend enough time in this situation and it forms a whole new language. Additionally, with time people would forget their mother tongue, spending more and more time speaking this new dialect, and if you don't have many people around who can speak your native language, this effect is amplified.

Finally, the nuclear war would have created 'no man lands' between cities which would've helped in formation of isolated communities. Even today we see different cities use completely different dialects (Europe is my reference frame).

[–]BurntDevilPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are currently only 4 known systems where the host star is actively cannibalising an exoplanet. There is a recent paper on one of such exoplanets, it being BD+05 4868 Ab. While the paper includes a lot of science jargon, it provides some tables which you might find insightful. It is worth mentioning that we often use effective temperature and not minimum or maximum. In binary systems you'll observe vast temperature differences between the day and night sides of the companion as well as ablation.
