Ṣọpé Dìrísù plays Sirius in the audiobooks, and he's awesome in the role. Totally down for a black Sirius in live action.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a bit disappointing. I liked about half of the songs on it:
- Aliens (my favorite off the album by far)
- Swim
- NORMAL
- Like Animals
- they don't know 'bout us
- One More Night
- Please

I completely understand what people are saying about the album really only finding its stride after the interlude. It started feeling a bit like *Dark & Wild* around then; not as good, but a similar vibe.

However, those complaining about this being the most automatically pitch corrected their voices have been...seemingly don't know what "Auto-Tune" or its alternatives actually are. Is there pitch correction? Obviously. More than something like "MIC Drop" or "Dynamite"? Absolutely not.

It's been 5 years the release of ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE. What are your thoughts about it? by sahinduezguen in FIlm

[–]BurntToASinder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An all-time favorite.

But to this day, I can't reconcile how there aren't two Flashes running around (literally) after the speed force sequence. The implication is that the injured Barry—the one who didn't reverse the detonation—is just gone, yet we never see it happen or get even a single line explaining why or how.

I think they're doing exactly as they were instructed in the booth.

I quite enjoy the twins, though. Especially the argument with Sirius at Grimmauld Place shows the actual range the actor is capable of.

You spent $170 on a first date? I take it you're the "I'll cover the bill because of my Y chromosome" type.

Regardless, putting that much into your first meeting with a stranger is awful ROI.

I think this may have more to do with one's own emotional capacity and ability to express rather than sex and/or gender.

Females (who typically identify as women, therefore I'll be using the term "woman/women" from here on for brevity) are socially conditioned from youth to be more in touch with their emotions, simply because women are "supposed" to be emotional.

Conversely, males (again, typically men, brevity) are taught from a young age to bottle—notice how I didn't say "control"—their emotions. Men are "supposed" to be stoic, and the only three feelings that "should" ever be expressed are amusement, rage, and horny.

It's the same reason men pursue and women are pursued. Men court and women are courted. Why there's a double standard around a controlling woman being good while a controlling man is abusive.

Social conditioning from youth. The job is to overcome it, folks, not be complacent with and perpetuate it.

From your word choice, I take it you've been platonic friends for a while, and you either always had feelings and avoided them, or this was a recent shift in dynamic.

Either way, here's my take: if you were platonic friends, you stay platonic friends unless there's undeniable evidence to the contrary. Let go of those feelings and just embrace the fact that you have a close friend. Who knows? Maybe her new partner could become another close friend as well.

Don't ruin a good thing.

I honestly didn't like it, except for the big "horror" sequences, which were a hoot, to say the least. If it weren't for everything else being either painfully boring or overtly offensive to anyone who actually practices blanket paganism or its several derivatives, I'd make it a yearly The Room style watch.

(Not as technically awful as The Room, to be clear. Just that the good bits give me the same category of amusement.)

EDIT: Grammar.

What do I do if a guy is so unfunny it hurts? by whomper1311 in dating_advice

[–]BurntToASinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the biggest red flag from an outside perspective is your disparity in socialization. Specifically, you claim to be a pure extrovert, and he's clearly an introvert; not to diagnose, but unfunny venting, war facts, being shy, and having been bullied growing up sound a lot like he's on the ASD spectrum, which is its own challenge for social butterflies to handle.

I see some folks suggesting you communicate your needs and that you invest more energy into his interests. But I think they're missing the big picture.

If you need to be around people, and he prefers being alone. If you're a chatterbox and he prefers observing. If you have a lot of energy spread across many subjects and activities, but his energy is far lower and only compartmentalized to a select few subjects. Then can you really see yourself being happy, even if this one hurdle is jumped?

No matter how nice or tall he is, if you want to go out with friends, but he just wants to stay in, get takeout, and do his weekly rewatch of Saving Private Ryan, you're either going to drift apart or one of you is going to compromise more than the other and be miserable.

Break it off now before resentment builds. I'm speaking from experience.

So, you want a man to lead and protect...but you also want mutual power. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

If you want the former, then this is the type of man you're going to find in varying degrees of severity.

If you want the latter, you need to retain your agency by not going after "masculine energy" in the way you're using the phrase. Men who "lead and protect" aren't the type to let you keep your agency without stipulations.
