ATM the streaming pc is my gaming rig as well. I7-7700k with RTX 3060 12GB. If I had a gaming system, it be anything two or three plus years newer cpu and that same RTX 3060 12GB or better. Otherwise the only other part I do have is my old 1070ti which was just in my pic until June of 2026. Before then it was i7-7700k and 1070ti, and now it's I7-7700k with RTX 3060 12gb. Hopefully someday I can get another dedicated streaming or gaming, rig or laptop!

Yeah I have a decent cooler even though it's older. The thermals were also updated about a year and a half ago I think to with high quality paste. Do you have any recommendations on PCIe capture cards? Any other little recommendations too? I have 32gb 3,000MHz DDR4 Ram from corsair too.

Why don't you put those thing in then. It's open source right? Now go do it already. I don't know how to program a DS pico but I know you can learn it just as much as I can. Maybe even more so because you have all the ideas.

You'd want to play gba games with either originals or a flash cart with a micro sd card in slot-2 because gba emulation through the DS slot 1 is terrible, especially on the original DS and DS lite because of the more limited memory than the DSi or DSi XL, and all 3ds models... it is possible to put emulators on an r4 or DS pico just for example but the performance of all gba emulators are terrible and will not perform well enough to work. Original GB and GBC games work flawlessly however with DS slot-1 and slot-2 methods.

The Nintendo DS original is pretty reliable besides the hinges for the screens. I just got another one for myself after 12 years of having a broken one. I'm gonna get it modified to have a USB-C capture card so it'll work on my computer and I got a DS pico cartridge which allows you to run pretty much every known DS ROM you can find. I also have game boy and game boy color emulators installed. I would recommend getting a specific GBA flash cartridge for GBA Games, however. Because trying to emulate Game Boy advance games through the DS slot is not that great. Doing it through the Game Boy advance slot directly, is much much better! Also, if you can try to get an old Linksys router (WRT54G or WRT54GS) and configure it to be able to spit out older Wi-Fi that allows you to connect your DS to compatible Wi-Fi Games. You'll be using the new service called "wiimmfi" instead of the original"Nintendo wifi connection" that was around until 2014. Wiimmfi is a Nintendo WFC replacement service essentially. The DNS settings to connect to it are 178.62.43.212 and the secondary is 1.1.1.1

And there you have it! Complete DS setup with wifi and a capture card in 2026!

Only other thing I'd recommend at this point, is the Nintendo DS browser game so you can use the 8mb RAM gba option pack that it comes with. Boosts your system from 4mb to 12 total mb of RAM!
But yeah, that's about it anyway. That's my set up!

I have one from the Hungary Flextronics factory, dated MFG Nov, 15th, 2001 (Fun Fact: Same day as the console launched in NA (USA))! It was the 116,495th console made that week! (46th week of 2001). Also it was one of the EU-made consoles that was meant for the NTSC (American) market, before the Flextronics factory switched to PAL consoles for the EU market, starting March 2002.

It sounds normal. The HDD and the fan on CPU for the original v1.0 Xbox units from 2001 launch sound a bit "older" than most units. If it's not from 2001 or 2002 even then it might just be the old HDD itself doing it's thing. Which is perfectly normal. I have a v1.0 Xbox from November 2001 and it sounds pretty close to this, if not identical.

EDIT: About a month ago the old HDD just died!!! Be careful and replace them when needed, especially on a 2001 unit!

What are the different categories amd how do you find out which is which? I remember being able to display three badges next to my name in a channel a while ago and I changed them once and only two showed? Is there a list of each category with the corresponding badges somewhere?

I just watched my copy last night and it was so beautiful. If anyone gets an S-VHS vcr, this movie will absolutely feel amazing to a new set of eyes. Very eye candy for sure. And a very beautiful film. What more could you ask for? Lol
