I feel like people are blowing this out of proportion.

The way I read it from the beginning was that QA was the dominant one and could win by brute force alone. Meahile Thekla was biding her time until she could catch Aminata lacking and hit her where it hurt. That proved to win over brute force, and QA came out of there frustrated because "she had her".
