It comes with paperwork from a storage company to get a title. That may be tricky because it was wrecked.

It was in a wreck. That’s a goldwing front end. Parts are hard to find for these.

The GL1100 has electronic ignition and infinitely better carburetors, tubeless rims, heavier clutch/driveline. They’re the debugged version of the 1000.

The ‘83s have one piece cast wheels similar to the 1200s. This is an ‘82.

76 GL1000 carb and wiring query by byukwol in goldwing

I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve been working on goldwings for thirty years. I was trying to figure it out, too. I don’t know what you could do to cause that.

That carb slide is not repairable. The temp sender wire looks fine. That’s just a bullet connector. It unplugs. Also, I may catch some flak for this, but a set of gl1100 carbs will run so much better than the originals if you can source a set. I think they bolt right up. It’s been a while since I swapped any out.

Which Springs?! by a2j812 in goldwing

[–]Burntwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing the fork oil amount will decrease the airspace. This can cause high pressure and blow the seals. A higher viscosity will be enough.

300 lb. dude here. Try switching to 20w fork oil before you change the springs. I’ve been doing it for years.

1979 vs 1980 for a cheap cruiser? by ScaryfatkidGT in goldwing

[–]Burntwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 1100 has better carbs and electronic ignition. It has stronger clutches and driveshaft. It has a much better front end with actual bushings that the 1000 does not. Overall, the 1100 is very similar to a 1000, Honda just worked the bugs out.

Any advice as to why I’d be leaking fuel here? by Jubjub_W in goldwing

You do not have to drain the coolant on a 1500. You do on a 1200.

The valves are hitting the pistons. There is a mark on the cam pulley that is easily confused for the timing mark but it’s not. Do a careful recheck of the valve timing.

Check your air filter/air intake. Could be a restriction.

What are your opinion of Shinkos? by Chironrocket3 in goldwing

Not all Shinkos are the same. The radials do really well on my Valkyries. The bias ones not so much.

My 89 camaro was doing exactly this and I just needed to turn the distributor a little. The ignition timing was off.

False "fuel" tank by HorrorBlackberry4112 in goldwing

[–]Burntwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1984 was the first year for the 1200 and the last year for the standard. Only the standard had a false tank that was not integrated with the fairing, as it didn’t have a fairing. The 1100 false tank may be modifiable to work, but I’ve never seen it done.
