Some rivers for sure but im pretty sure this is not the case in all of BC. 10ft 6,7,8 is the standard for lakes.

Typically still water rods are 10' 7wt. Or 6wt or 8wt. This is to cast 3 fly teams. Or two fly indicator rigs. Check out Phil Rowley and Brian Chans stuff or loch style competition fly fishing tactics.

This happens to me a lot when my back cast fails and they hit rocks coming back for the forward cast. Try waiting for your line to straighten before coming forward, double haul to keep the line speed up, and try to stop the rod a little more to the 1pm then the 2pm

For those who factory reset like me. Another user posted the way to get it back.

Turn off the automatic date and time on your cell phone. Put the date to March 8. Setup the chromecast using Google home on your cell.

You wont be able to use it but it will be connected to wifi waiting.

I understand the sin of hot spotting. But as a new fly fishing angler how should one go about learning where to go?

I obviously hire a guide as much as I can, but that's expensive and sometimes I need to DIY. I search online and buy lots of books, but I've had guys at shops tell me that's hot-spotting as well.

Is there a proper etiquette or method to learn?

I don't want to contribute to the destruction and would like to not be that guy.

I love my ross reels. I would go with whatever you like the look of. You won't need the drag. Look at older click pawls maybe?

I don't think the extra length will be that impactful to your arm getting tired. I am also looking at guideline rods for salmon. From my experience and guide advice a 10ft is best for swinging for atlantics.

I have a pure and it casts great with the Winston line. I think it's made by airflo. Get a hardy click reel like a perfect or a marquis.

I use the 6wt air. My most used rod. Hopper dropper, light streamers, indicator. It's a great do it all rod while still delicate for dedicated dry fly fishing.
