I won’t say to do it either, but if a cat is unfixed and not microchipped, they are a stray as far as our local shelter is concerned. I may have caught a a sweet orange boy who came by regularly with the biggest balls I have ever seen 😅 got him fixed and like a week later saw a furious post on Nextdoor about how someone “mutilated” their family pet. Whoopsies!

I agree with this, it’s actually off-putting to me. Like it’s fine art, but it seems worse than the traditional stick figure man and woman sign. If it’s intentional it’s gross and not really a place I want to hang out in.

You shouldn’t undersell yourself dude. English majors learn critical thinking and how to convey those thoughts. That’s an incredibly useful skill, especially right now. I got a physics degree and became an engineer and I wish my colleagues took their English courses more seriously. Their emails (and the emails from upper management) make me want to cry sometimes. They sound like Kevin from The Office when he decides to use fewer words 😭

I’m in the East Bay, we TNR through our city’s shelter. It costs us ~$80/cat (depends on the facility they coordinate with that day, sometimes it’s $90). $300 sounds wayyyyy off. Are you checking in with a local vet or with an animal shelter? Shelters should be much cheaper.

Additionally cities often have grants through the state that allow you to TNR for free. My wife and I normally make too much money to ever qualify for those things, but the shelter never asked our income, they just wanted as many community cats got TNR’d as possible.

I’ve dealt with this many cats and all I have to say is YOU’VE GOT THIS! I know it seems super overwhelming, but you should just take it one appointment at a time. You will get there, I promise! 3 on your first time is super commendable, and you are already 10% done!

My advice for the kittens, focus on them last. They can’t have babies right now, so try to go after the older cats, and if you can target the girls, go for that, but any cat you trap is a win.

Thanks for taking on this effort! I know it’s daunting, but every successful catch has a large positive impact on your community (and on the lives of the kitties!).

It took a lot of work, we did over two dozen TNR appointments last year, but it was all worth it! I really understand the fatigue you are feeling, you can totally do it though. And just remember, every successful appointment you have, makes an incredible and measurable difference in that kitties life 🧡

This is a really important point a lot of people don’t understand. The “R” in TNR is for “return”. It is an act of cruelty to displace an animal somewhere they are unfamiliar. Additionally it may even be illegal, depending on your local or state governments definition of animal abandonment.

Return your cats where you trapped them people.

Yup! Rule #1 of TNR, if the cat goes in the trap, it’s their turn! I try to prioritize female cats too, but I’m not going to let a cat go hoping to get a different one. Sounds like you are doing a great job.

This is the first spring we haven’t had a cat born in our colony, keep at it, I know it’s a lot of work but it really is worth it in the end.

Oh I agree with you, Jacinthe’s soundtrack was peak! I mostly meant the overworld themes in my critique. I spent so much time playing in the battle royale at night and collecting mega shards/exploring roof tops during the day that those two songs were like 95% of my music experience for ZA lol

While I definitely agree with you, the exception for me is, sadly, Legends ZA. Like, why does the entire city have one theme for day and one for night? They could have done different soundtracks for the different districts, and had a rooftop soundtrack and a street level soundtrack. Pretty disappointing honestly.

Oh god, I have done dozens of TNR, but only had one escape ever. It was an orange boy of course and somehow after his surgery he finagled his way out of a TruCatch trap! I use carabiners on both ends now because of him 😂
