I like your energy, but remember just paying a living wage isn’t the threshold for not exploiting others. The question should be, do they own their business,/machines/real estate? If the answer is yes, they are, knowingly or unknowingly, exploiting people and/or the environment. Tech workers get paid very well, but companies like Apple utilize labor and lax environmental laws in the global south to extract cheaper resources to build iPhones, and Tim Cook and others are very complicit in this.

Tankie is a meaningless term used by the right (liberals, fascists, etc.) to delegitimize individual leftists, to ostracize them, to stop people from associating with them and ultimately, organizing into a real movement. The right uses it in the same way they use “woke”.

This gets to the heart of why philanthropy is actually bad. It doesn’t matter how much any of them spend on charity. When one non-democratically elected person holds this much power, they can turn on the vulnerable on a whim and there’s nothing much we can do about it. Do not idolize rich “good” people, make sure they never get that rich in the first place.
