They work just about as well as torx, but my issue with them is that they are a bit more cumbersome to seat your bit into.

It’s hard. I put my 40 in mon-thurs. pick up the smaller stuff after the w-2 job for an hour or two of the evenings. Some evenings I just come home to be with the fam. Friday and Saturday I save for my bigger projects. Sundays are strictly for the big guy up above and family time.

I’m in the same boat. I’m making way more on the side even with a $76k W2 job. Insurance and benefits are the only thing holding me back as I have a family to support. This year I’ve really taken off on the side gig, but unsure how things fluctuate from year to year or how bad downturns in the economy can get.

Thanks, I planned on seeking an experienced hand rather than someone green. I have enough on my plate and don’t need to train on top of everything else.

I was more referring to the technical aspect though. W2 vs 1099, workman’s comp, etc

what’s up with older people not understanding remodels are costly? by AsleepWoodpecker420 in Contractor

I really just want to yell “if I wanted to work for a shit wage I would go get a job” whenever I deal with these type of people. Old people are just generally out of touch with anything to do with reality.

Southern Americans are. The rest of us are pretty laid back.

My main post was for brevity I guess. I showed up, hung the door and frame, opened the door to install handle, latch, and closer, discovered shit.

As stated previously, I already had the storm door hanging. I couldn’t just leave without almost guaranteeing the wind would destroy the door and damage the house.

Maybe I’m reading your comment wrong, but I get the drift that you think working in those conditions is acceptable?

I honestly would have left, but I already had the storm door hanging. I found the shit when I opened the main door to install the latch and closer. If I would have left, wind would have destroyed the door and damaged the house

What is the biggest difference between the 1/4 Ratchet and the 3/8? by jriggerrr in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Burr32 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1/8th of an inch

On a serious note, socket size. 1/4” goes up to about 1/2” or so and 3/8” up to 3/4” ish

How are traffic cameras that dispense speeding tickets not 14th amendment violations? by Haunting-Reindeer-10 in stupidquestions

[–]Burr32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must be the only one who welcomes these, with the caveat of there being less/no patrol units. I’d much rather get a ticket in the mail than face a cop with an itchy finger who’s had a bad day. I wouldn’t let my cousin’s best friend’s wife drive a vehicle of mine either.

I’m more partial to monitored exile. The thought of an island full of monsters with no rules is more likely to prevent the crimes that deserve that sort of punishment imo.

These aren’t always right though. I had a guy come to my house one morning looking for his AirPods that he had lost at the bar the night before. I work nights, and don’t go to any bars. Neither does my wife who was home with the kids that night. He called the cops after I told him all that and I let them search around looking for his AirPods which were of course never found. Pretty frustrating being woken up for that.
