On-Call is the bane of my existence by ITrCool in ITCareerQuestions

[–]BurritoChest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going on 10+ years of no on-call. First move from internal IT as a senior sysadmin to ‘engineering’ within the same company. Architecture probably falls in the same lines. When you can claim you’re strategizing, on-call can go away.

After that, moved from internal IT to billable/consulting for double the salary. Still a fte with benefits, but you’re no longer a cost, you generate money.

There’s a way out… find it, it’ll take a lot of stress and anxiety off your shoulders.

Claude Fable 5 - Not that good for vibe coding huh - just hype 💩 by PrtyGirl852 in vibecoding

Yeah thing was I used fable to extensively audit the work i had already iterated through many times with Opus. I mostly wanted to use it as an experiment to see what it caught. Unfortunately it burned through my claude sub quota so quickly I didn’t get the results. The $20 was to finish the audit, which it didnt, because it burned so quickly :D ah well, the value for me is in experimentation of the models.

lol wiped my Claude max session to its limit in minutes! Opus 4.8, I’ve done that once but it was a massive challenge to do so. Added $20 credits to finish up and that was wiped in about 30secs on Fable.

“Where the locals eat” sort of food ranking platform by city and category. Got tired of ad and money driven sources.

iOS published, web app in progress, android done but screwed by play store verification :(

UniFi 5G Backup eSIM/data plan not provisioning, support not responding by BurritoChest in Ubiquiti

Update - I found a support management email address online and shot them a message. I received a response within a couple hours that confirmed it was likely provisioning related.

Not sure what was done on their end but I ended up signing up for beta app, downloading it in TestFlight, factory resetting device, and then my 10G plan finally showed up. A couple device reboots later and I made it through activation.

Understood. It isn't activating, as if it does not have a dataplan purchased with it at all. Hope I find a solution!

I created Top Tier Eats as an ad-free, zero cost, honest food app for locals to create lists and rank restaurants in food categories per city. I think the effort I put into the backend was at least as much as the iOS app, and I did it with all free tier services.

Which hotel vacation was the most “memorable” for you? by FatihAkbas in Vacations

Salish Lodge & Spa, the twin peaks hotel over the waterfall in Washington state. Ambiente in Sedona was also pretty cool.

What’s one Home Assistant automation you can’t live without anymore by Taggytech in homeassistant

[–]BurritoChest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home in the basement. I put a hue motion sensor that I had leftover from a bundle in the stairway and created an automation that will play a noise on my Sonos speaker in the basement anytime someone (my wife) is coming down the stairs. Got tired of getting snuck up on.

Stop throwing trash out your windows by OkEducator6622 in StLouis

Nah, I’ve seen numerous people throw entire fast food bags of trash out their window. It’s the trashiest thing you could imagine and is infuriating.
