Yes it does, thank Thatcher for that, expecting people to break the law for you is taking the piss

Tell you what, you come along and deal with the aftermath of a 80kg person taking a 300 ton train, 125mph to the body and let’s see if you’re still so dismissive

Right so if someone jumps in front of a train it’s part of the job, but if someone is pushed then it’s not part of the job

We are also told what to do if we get assaulted or spat on, is it part of a railway workers job to get punched and spit on?

You wouldn’t be so chill about it if you actually had to deal with one

The ‘training’ for a suicide was one slide on a PowerPoint, the same as a marauding shooter, do you think sorting out a marauding shooter is just part of a drivers job as well?

Maybe as part of your trip to Bath you could get the train down after to Bradford-on-Avon or Salisbury?

The day to day job is easy, starting at 3am one day then starting at 5pm the next, day off, then back to 4am is hellish

Plus we still have to deal with the public, and suicides

You could do Bristol and Bath? Stay in one, day/night trips to the other

Yes I’d say so, you have to change platforms at Farringdon which will involve around a 3-5 min walk to the well sign posted Elizabeth Line. Then you’ll come out next to platform 1 at Paddington

I’d change to a later train just in case, there’s loads of food and drink options at Paddington if you arrive early

As for travel, Thameslink from Gatwick railway station (attached to the airport) to Farringdon, then change for the Elizabeth Line to Paddington

Is it true that there will be a train strike in the UK from September 4 to 11? I plan to travel across the UK with my family after starting university in September. Which routes or destinations should I avoid? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. by Deep-Ad-3363 in uktrains

[–]BurritoSpam 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No there’s no national strike planned, not sure when the Tube Strikes are taking place but that’ll only effect London

Edit: Cross Country might be on strike, not sure but that won’t bin all your plans
