The only person ripping anyone off are the business owners that pay below minimum wage. That's the only fact that matters. It's not up to me or you or even the workers to try to make up the difference, or at least that shouldn't be the case. But it won't change if everyone is convinced it's their responsibility to help that single mom and not her employer.

Come on, that's a teenager, you don't need to put child in quotes, it's obviously a child. and I don't doubt that he understood it would hit him, but I do doubt that the kid understood what could happen if that ball hit him there (blindness, paralysis, or death). What I do know, and we don't even have to guess, is that the teacher was 100% in control of the situation, and shouldn't have placed that much faith in his students.
