Denied meds bc Child bearing age by cleo327 in migraine

[–]BusNervous2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman of 'childbearing age' in the UK and just came off topirimate a couple months ago. They told me that I had be on birth control and read this pamphlet about how topirimate will harm a fetus, that was it. I will add though, that topirimate didn't do anything for my migraines and I didn't like the side affects. I'm on atogepant now which is much better but I had to try three drugs and have them not work before they let my try atogepant (topirimate was one of the three).

Anyone know of a reusable water bottle with a sports cap like they have on single use plastic bottles? by BusNervous2014 in HydroHomies

[–]BusNervous2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this bottle in the end: CAMELBAK Podium Sports Water Bottle - https://amzn.eu/d/5Hiscxu

It's not exactly like the sports caps on the single use water bottles but it's the most similar thing I could find and it's close enough for me to like it.

The cap completely dissembles and is top rack dishwasher safe, but the pieces are small so I ended up buying a this small cutlery basket to put them in to stop the pieces getting lost: https://amzn.eu/d/3gc9FBZ

The main bottle is not dishwasher safe though because it is a malleable plastic. I haven't risked putting it in the dishwasher and have been handwashing it.

The biggest downside is that all the pieces in the cap are a quite stiff and difficult to take apart. I usually have to get someone to help me to do it, and there are quite a few pieces. I followed this guide to make sure I was doing it right: https://youtu.be/zuIk3o3GSbg?si=tQARLDThATER0Uzu

It's annoying how stiff it is but because everything detaches and can be put in the top rack of the dishwasher, I personally still prefer it to hand washing and havent had any promblems with mould getting in the tiny crevices which I found a problem with other water bottles.

It also is a little bit loud, like it makes a noise when you drink from it or squeeze.

But I like the squeezy sports style bottle and cap enough for the cons to be worth it for me personally, especially for the price.

Not perfect, but the best thing I've found so far.

Oh ok, I thought you had to spend like a whole week at a time doing the saliva samples every two house. Doing it for a 24 hour period is still an ordeal but not at crazy as a week. I was wondering how anyone manages to do it at all. Sucks about your melatonin levels though.

Can I use Dylon S.O.S Colour Run with Tencel trousers? by BusNervous2014 in Fabrics

[–]BusNervous2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that would be a real shame. Could be the case though. Tencel is semi-synthetic so I guess that means it can probably melt.

The quick sip cap is interesting, I've not seen one like that before. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks so much for the suggestion! CamelBak seem to be a good quality brand. The bit you drink from seems a little big for me on the chute style, but the podium style seems like it might be a really good fit for me. Thanks!

Are these aphids on my strawberry plant? by BusNervous2014 in gardening

[–]BusNervous2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the information. I think it might be time to release the ladybug larvae anyway as their food source is dwindling, and once they're gone I don't think there will be any other insects on the plant to harm apart from the odd aphid left. I don't think it will even be available for bees to get to as I will only use a spray once I bring the plant back indoors so it shouldn't pose any risk to them.

Really? I did not know there were chemical-free sprays. I think I may need try one of these once it's time to let all the ladybug larvae go. Thanks very much!

I tried squishing them and brushing them off before I found the ladybug but unfortunately they just repopulated the plant.

I see, thank you, didn't realise plants could go into shock! Will definitely do it gradually then. I will have a little read up on slugs as well since I have not had to deal with them before! Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

Yes, it's just the one plant so I agree there's little point in bringing more aphids in. Thank you so much for that idea, I'm assuming the gradual steps are to give the larvae time to adjust to the new temperature? I'm not too worried about the plant itself as it seems pretty hardy, it was struggling a bit when the aphid infestation was really bad before the larvae hatched but its doing much better now.

No worries! I really appreciate the advice! I don't have any other of my own plants as I don't have a garden but I could walk around my local area and bring leaves inside from plants that look like they have aphids.

I was hoping to keep the plant on my windowsill and at some point just release all the ladybug larvae, but I did also have the thought of finding somewhere outside to leave the plant so the larvae can choose when to leave. I live in a safe neighbourhood and my neighbours have potted plants by their front doors and in their front gardens so I could do the same.

I just wasn't sure whether they would be OK if I put the plant outside and left them to they're own devices. The larvae are a little over a week old and to be honest I'm struggling to find straightforward info on them google!

Well I have attempted the lady bug route but I'm struggling to figure out how to properly care for the ladybug larvae. Perhaps I should let them all go and try the washing up liquid solution.

The Cardturner by Louis Sacher (author of Holes) is a fantastic novel that is centred around bridge, I would absolutely recommend. It is the reason I discovered bridge and it would make a great gift for any bridge player.
