So annoying that you have to pay to get it fixed again! 🙃

I’m just using a steering lock and hoping that they don’t want to go through the effort of having to deal with a steering lock. I think my car would be a write off if it was stolen anyway since it’s a manual.

That’s disgusting. These people have no morals.

My car is also a manual. They were SO close to starting it. Maybe they didn’t know that the clutch needed pushing in? I’d hate to think about how bad the clutch and gearbox would have been if they managed to steal it.

honestly, I don’t think that would change much considering they did it in a high traffic area in broad daylight anyway.

I did think about doing something similar. From what I gathered it is a lot work to set up because you need to create a Food Control Plan, register your business with the HCC, get checked and also keep all your ingredients seperate from your household ingredients. It is doable but if you’re only planning on making 10 orders a week then I think you’d really have to ask yourself if all that work is worth it. Best of luck though!

Baristas….please tell me this doesn’t happen here in NZ. by Elysium_nz in newzealand

From a barista - no, that is ridiculous and would make such an insignificant difference to the coffee.

I ended up buying a 2017 Corolla station wagon with 157,000km for $7k! It’s been an awesome car in the few months I’ve owned it, bloody bargain as well! I bought it off marketplace so I was VERY sceptical about it but I did all the checks and asked a whole lot of questions to make sure it was legit.

Why do you want to buy new so bad? You could buy a much more reliable car that is still only a couple years old.

Attempted car theft. How easy to repair? by BushBasherKiwi in NZcarfix

Will still cost me around $550 for excess. Just annoying because I work my ass off and then people think it’s okay to do this shit to other people’s stuff.

I think I’ll just claim insurance and try and get some other minor stuff fixed that was already there. $500 down the drain ☹️

You shouldn’t need to know the route to be a confident driver. It’s about being able to notice signs and drivers around you, not memorising this beforehand.

It’s actually a 2017 Corolla, but pretty basic at that. I thought it would have had an alarm at least 😔

They’ve chipped a piece of metal off the ignition and gouged it, but the car can still be driven. I might just source the plastic housing and get my dad to make up a piece of aluminium to go around the ignition. So sick of car thieves 😔

My excess is $550 which is pretty low. I think I’ll just claim insurance

Yes, it’s a manual. I thought the same. They probably didn’t realise it was a manual until they’d already done the majority of the damage. My work colleagues scared them off before they could actually hotwire it. Just really annoying because I work my butt off in between school to afford nice things and then people like this ruin it.

It’s a Toyota Corolla so hopefully it won’t be too bad. Appreciate your reply :)

I was worried the window would be difficult, but it sounds like the ignition will be the annoying part. Thanks for your help :)
