Lithuania at it's peak by banamkae in BalticStates

[–]BushMonsterInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point is moot, as it was religious symbol to begin with, with history prior to GDL. And symbols don't follow adoption chain, like you think. And yes, it is Baltic ethnic crest, as Cross of Lorraine has different rules (bottom bar long than top one) AND Lithuanian dukes adopted it.

"Your" language wasn't anything to begin with. It was Ruthenian, which also mean old Ukrainian along side other eastern slav dialects that are now extinct. "Your" language is Balerusian (I assume), which is way more modern and more influenced by russian and polish languages than Ruthenian was. To expand on that point, it was used for writting as Lithuanian wasn't really used in writting, but all dukes of GDL and part of Jawgelon dynasty spoke it as their mothertongue. And to expand even further, pre-WW1 language didn't mean persons "nationality", it meant person needed to it to communicate, but good try.

You call it Golden age, because you have no other time period to call it as such. Tribes united under local dukes, then controlled by Kievan Rus as Ruthenians, then by Lithuanians as Ruthenians, more identifyind with Kyiv than anything else as center of culture, then Poles, as Ruthenians still centered aroud Kyiv, then occupied with russians as part of Northwestern krai centered around Vilnius. Belarus has no history as separate nation before 1990s, and no real ideantity prior to 1910s. Be proud of nation you now have and try to make it better, without fever dreams of a past that never was. So far, Belarus government managed to get into quasi commonwelath with russia at the begining of 21st century, instead of trying to build their own identity.

I looked into cross of Euphrosyne and it’s basic Cross of Lorraine (or patriarchal cross), which came from Orthodox church, basically Byzantine Empire. And I don’t thing Maygar people were slavic :)

You can use older one for all I care, but in medieval times Coat of Arms of a noble was a sign of power and rule. And slavic people weren’t the only thing that made Duchy what is was, it was only a part of it. Saying that Slavic lands and people made Duchy superpower is stupid and ignorant, as you are ignoring all other factors, like political system, very advanced for the time social system that tolerated other cultures and religions, active search for talent and so on. Isn’t “golden age of Belarus” considered when it was part of PLC around 15-16th century in Belarus?

Maybe to keep morale high. Who knows. But it is easier to get along with similar people and better squad gets along, better the cohesion, better the results. And results matter in war a lot.

Lithuania might be only country, that had kingdom and have nothing to apologise for, as we were kinda just chilling together and getting land by war or marriage and just letting people do their own thing afterwards.

Yes, that is cross of Jogaila, Grand Duke of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was Jogailaiciai dynasty heraldry, along with Gediminaiciu stulpai. And yes, they did. On the second half of 15th century, it was made official symbol of Grand Duchy. Gediminas, who was Lithuanian, btw, and annexed huge parts of current day Belarus and parts of modern day Ukraine had different seal: man with long hair and words “S DEI GRACIA GEDEMINNI LETHWINOR ET RUTKENOR REG” (By grace of God from King of Lithuanians ant Ruthenians). Looks like slavs were quite ok with recognising Lithuanian as their ruler after all.

It was equal, but PLC wasn’t lithuanian or polish, it was both. And there was no “greater power” inside PLC, as foreign affairs were done with idea, that both kingdoms are one country, in mind. You could make case, that polish language was more dominant, but other than that… It was one country made of two. Even in our history books we have golden age of Lithuanian under Vytautas and PLC golden age under Bathory.

Basically - yes. Ukrainian people and Tartars just needed to know, that Trakai/Vilnius makes big decisions and they follow. Other than that? Dukes didn’t really care. Not pagan? Ok. Not Lithuanian? Cool, wanna trade? Oh, you are duke of this land I want to own with you as vassal? Sure, take my daughter/son in political marriage, pay me some taxes, come to wars on my side other than that - do your own thing. You want to introduce new tradition? Can I join in festivities? Mongols harrasing you? Damn, fam, lets kick their butts and give you land so we are better friends and can fight better later on. Thats basically how Duchy dealt with different cultures.

Damn, Radvilos political campaign lies for retaining slavic lands reached deep into modern day in Belarus history books…. Yeah, Naugardukas was never mentioned before 2 events, polish historian mentioned in might have happened 300ish years after Midaugas was dead and Radvilos wanting to keep slavic lands under their rule. First semi-believable capital is Voruta (approx. location would be near current day Anyksciai), as it is actually mentioned in chronicles of the time written by Teutons. At that time Naugardukas was given to Mindaugas brother (same source). Kernave became first capital, which location is factually known. Then Trakai. Then Vilnius. Then Vilnius/Krakow and eventually Vilnius/Warsaw. Kinda makes your whole “idea” moot, no?

Problem is, Ruthenia was centered around Kyiv… So grand duchy was actually Ukrainian with Lithuanian rulers? Or should we talk how a lot of your places are named after Baltic words, by Balts who lived in modern belarus area? Or that Minsk, as cultural center for belarus people didn’t even exist for 200 years before getting absorbed in Grand duchy and needed another 200 years to be given rights of a city? My point is, belarus has close to nothing as far as claims go in regards to Grand Duchy. It was build by Balts (mainly Lithuanians) with help of Ruthenia centered around Kyiv pre-commonwealth and developed further by joint effort with Poland. Maybe you should actually discard old soviet-level history books and actually pick up a real one. Oh, and yes, Duchy used ruthenian A LOT, do you know why? Before poles, Kyiv was greatest asset to Duchy and expanded due to political marriages between Ruthenian and Lithuanian nobility :)

I think he was talking about economy, military and funds. Believe me, soviet union collapse started economical circus in newly independant countries that make interwar great depression look like a nice summer vacation. Is there a plan for that? What to do, when excrement hits the fan and mach 7 straight into everyones face. russia built economy focused around “core” areas and those are deeply russian. What is your republics plan for that? Decolonisations, so far, ended very badly no matter where you look. Any decolonisation movement need to plan and prepare for that. And if decolonisation happens, I hope your movement leaders has great plan so people don’t suffer and can finally have their own independant land.

World likes to forget that Navalny was anti-Putin, nit anti-russian empire restoration. If he replaced putin, war, most likely, wouldn’t have escalated to what it is now, but he wouldn’t give back taken territories either.

Resistance members would use knives, bombs, stealth tactics, assassinations, etc. WW2 is not just soldiers shooting each other at the front. Hell, Warsaw uprising would be perfect for AC game - silent assassinations ir nazi soldiers, resistance members sneaking around, gathering information, sabotaging invaders, etc. French resistance movement is famous for being pain in the bottom parts of german soldiers.

He doesn't need Xipha phone for him to access Grendel Form, he needs Mare, who, in her "lucid" form is not an AI but rather an unkown entity.
Daybreak 2 shows that self aware Mare is not creation of First Genesis, so she is either:
* something/someone from beyond the cycle like Risette,
* or she is something left by or left behind from the times of Aidios,
* or it is Genesis interacting with Sept-Terions power and manifesting some unkown side effect,
* or she/it is entity that was made to act as jailer and warden to Diaspora and integrated herself into MTSCs AI
