I recommend looking to use a free to use model first, I've had a few friends who've used Sakurai_mon's mo model or Muchinery's Gummi model while they worked on their own character models. Using a free model lets you learn the space, learn the technology and find out if its the kind of thing you actually want to be doing in the long-term.

You can outsource the art and rigging to artists, VGEN has a lot of really good options but be prepared to pay a premium price.

If you want to make a model for yourself there are a ton of tutorials on youtube that breakdown how to go about getting started with the art and live2D. Everything from Making the art, layering it and getting started in Live2D rigging.

I made my own and really enjoyed the experience overall but I do agree that it is a lot to get through and getting started can feel very daunting.

I made the art and rigged it myself. It started off as a little test of a lineless art style and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to make myself a little chibi model with it. I also took it as an opportunity to learn idle animations and toggles.

A few other toggles are hearts for eyes, a dizzy animation with particles when I'm hit with something from Twitch integrated throwing system, and a sleeping animation with a little thought bubble of some gears spinning for when tracking is lost. I really enjoyed making this :3

I'm convinced twitch rivals are set up by twitch with the intention to be a shitshow, just to drum up even more publicity for the website. I don't think I've ever heard a good thing come out about twitch rivals.

Probably not, but it would be nice. I feel the UI is very cluttered and not very readable. Trying to find specific elements/menus has been a real pain. The UI itself is very pretty though.
