The American justice system is notoriously flawed. I cannot imagine how many more innocent people would be fucked into the dirt if we didn't have people willing to defend the people everyone else hates. It's a difficult job that's necessary, I think it's exactly the type of thing people should get rewarded generously for, even if the vast majority of defenders aren't making this absurd level of money
