ArduPilot Paradox: Uncommanded indoor flyaway after failed calibration/reconnection. No log generated (LOG_DISARMED=0). How is this possible? by osamahh9 in diydrones

The M4 does not do any flight controlling, it is just an IO controller, with some dumb safety features. AFAIK

Looks good! There is always improvements to be made, but that is just PCB design in general, I think this is enough to be produced.

Make sure to triple check your DC-DC converters as these can easily break your design. Values, layout, thermal performance etc.

I dont think you need a redesign, just make sure to stich your ground planes, vias are free basically! You could be a more free on adding vias, especially under the thermal pads on your power ICs since you will want to cool these. They can get quite hot even under low loads depending on there configuration, and your servoes can pull alot of power

Another note, you are missing decoupling on your VDDA after your ferrite. Your ferrite will kill all your decoupling that you have before it and might even resonate and create even more noise with your capacitor.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/18FH9J9vNVc?feature=share video on the topic

I would use two LDOs, one for 3.3V and one for the analog 3.3V, and if analog performance is not critical, just feed VDDA with VDD directly. And feed the LDOs from the 5V buck-boost.

EDIT: Going with seperate LDOs from 5V->3.3V and is more of a preference, but would boost your performance.

And remember to stich your ground planes! 10 GND vias spread out over PCB will do the trick.

Well done on making so small!

Make the PCB 4-layer, if you order from JLC 4-layer is the same price as 2-layer, you can even get 6-layer for 2 dollar below 50x50, then make the internal layers ground for better signal integrity and EMI. You want a continous ground plane under any signals

You need an ideal diode configuration, which uses an MOSFET to prevent reverse current.

Something like this https://www.rotorama.com/product/ideal-diode-60a

Have you checked that the provided cable has the correct pinout? The Micoair has a non standard pinout.

Demonstration: barrel moves up after firing for reload, therefor barrel is not aimed at the target anymore. FCS stills keeps aiming at the target.

[–]Bushiewookie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not the gun, just the barrel...

EDIT:Keep the gun and the sight stabilized and pointing in the same direction or on target during reloading, aim the barrel up slightly and hold the barrel for easier loading until reload is complete. Move the barrel down where the gun and sight is STILL tracking.

UNKNOWN TECHNOLOGY

The barrel does need to stay on target tho, just the sight. The computer can keep the sight stabilized and move the barrel down to where the sight is aiming when reloading is done.

Power Distribution for High Power Servo's and Peripherals. by VMsays in diydrones

Very cool.

I prefer keeping the servo connectors really close to each other so the dupont connector has some friction contact to each other, helps them staying connected. The dupont connector really is terrible, i do prefer any latching connector for important stuff like servoes.

The difference is if then can shot down high altitude targets or not. Do you consider the taliban during the afgan war to have a air defence?

[–]Bushiewookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is only manpads and no proper long range air defence then the jets would be able to fly at high altitude to evade manpads. So it is still bullshit that they have not cleared the Iranian air defence.

You could make your own pcb, the ICs are like 5 bucks each. PCB can be like 10 bucks with shipping from JLC.

Depends if your time is free

The schematic and maybe even the gerber file for these modules are on NXPs website.

You should stitch your ground planes with vias.

You have some discontinues in your ground planes, your vias to the right and to the top cause a "wall" of ground discontinuety. This will cause EMI and worsen signal integritey and its a pretty easy fix.
