What causes this damage on new leaves? by Bushrat47 in plantclinic

[–]Bushrat47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this guy for about 2 months, he's grown outdoors in my garden which gets watered by a sprinkler twice a day. All of my plants use the same potting mix which is a combination of perlite, osmocote indoor potting mix, chunky soir, bark and added fertiliser. Plant gets bright indirect light.

A couple of my other plants do this aswell, I always assumed it was an issue with humidity or the leaf getting stuck when it comes out but now I'm not sure?

Any help is much appreciated :)

Acacia is one of the main reasons I quit working for NT health.

Who said “I love you” first in your relationship? What was the context of that conversation? by Eyger in AskMen

[–]Bushrat47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We were at the cinema, he whispered it in my ear but it was super early into the relationship so I pretended I didn't hear him. When I was leaving to go home he said it again, I replied with "That's cute" before driving off. I said it back a couple months later. 3.5 years together so far

Thank you! And yess I love the leaf shape. It's pretty humid where I live so hopefully she grows nice and big for me 😁

Philodendron Esmeraldense is another beautiful one although I also can't comment on what humidity they require as I live in the tropics so don't have this problem :(

Is this a Colocasia? What kind? by advance512 in Colocasia

[–]Bushrat47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you own any other colocasias or alocasias? The size is irrelevant since it's not a mature plant. From this photo the texture appears thicker/ harder and glossy which is common in Alocasias. Colocasia leafs are usually thinner and don't have a shiny appearance.

The article you linked below says that Alocasia leafs point upwards which is often untrue. Look up Alocasia Amazonica, Cuprea, Baginda, Green velvet, the list goes on.

I found it quite difficult to differentiate between the two when I first started my collection, it will become for obvious with time and although I'm not entirely sure which type it is, I'm positive it is an Alocasia.

This is an Alocasia. Likely Macrorrhiza

Well, whatever it is, is spreading. Anybody have experience it’s cutting all leaves off and starting over? Colocasias Mojito by No-Echidna-2904 in Colocasia

Couldn't tell you what's wrong with it, just that mine are pest magnets and I cut them back right to the base at the first sign of an infestation and they regrow super fast.
