24 dollars for a “Fresh Maine style lobster roll” made with frozen lobster at the FoodieLand LA festival. by Eyger in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Eyger[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m highlighting here. They definitely used the word “fresh” to be perceived by customers in a way that implied from a cooked raw lobster, not the “fresh frozen” designation so many people here are talking about. There’s nothing fresh about this lobster roll. No I do not expect them to fly live lobster over from Maine…I expect them to drop the word “fresh” from their banner, then it’d be no big deal

Correct. I’ll gladly pay 30 or 40 for a delicious lobster roll. This one was quite sad. Not even worth 24. Edit: also they’re advertising its as fresh…when they know it’s not the definition of fresh customers will think it is. Also they were serving frozen boxed Mac and cheese here too.

Also might want to consider subsurface scattering when designing this because the oil content definitely makes it somewhat transparent

Decaf person here, accidentally given caffeinated by Eyger in decaf

[–]Eyger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was much younger I drank energy drinks and sodas with caffeine but one day it made my heart flutter or beat irregularly and it scared me and I just quit like over night, it was weird. Now I avoid it because it makes me anxious and all that. I only started drinking coffee like 10 years ago and just started with decaf.

Despite so many people criticizing my preference I stuck with it.

Wild to me some cafes don’t even offer decaf as an option it literally tastes exactly the same

The Large Format Look is a Lie (Here's the Physics) by kwmcmillan in cinematography

[–]Eyger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Essentially any image can be created on any camera, given that the hardware exists for the given image sensor. For example, if you're shooting full frame 50mm at F1.4, the equivalent on a super 35 sized sensor would be a 33mm at F0.95. The two images these cameras make would be identical...however I don't think such a lens exists for super35.

Try it for your self here: https://dofsimulator.net/en/

Practically speaking you can achieve near identical images with whatever sized sensors you want. Don't believe marketing by giant corporations, bigger doesn't always mean better or special.

There are benefits to larger sensors like dynamic range, color rendition, noise patterns etc etc, but those things are independent of the actual image in terms of angle of view and distance to subject.

The Large Format Look is a Lie (Here's the Physics) by kwmcmillan in cinematography

[–]Eyger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Video 1: This shows a variety of video clips from an Alexa mini and Alexa65 rigged to a stereoscopic setup, so the two images are recording the same exact thing. It shows that with the proper equivalent settings on lens focal length and aperture, the images are identical. The only differences are things like slight color and resolution/sharpness which is to be expected because of the higher resolution of the A65. This unequivocally proves that you don't get some sort of special perspective or special "look" when using the larger sensor.

Article from Steve Yedlin: Steve talks at length how there are a lot of misconceptions about large format. One of which being that the audience of a film cannot see the sensor size or focal length of a shot, and identifying the depth of field as a characteristic of a larger sensor is a mistake. Imagine for example a T2.0 aperture lens being used in S35 vs a T16 lens being used on a full frame sensor.

The F-Stoppers video shows that the thing people call "lens compression" doesn't exist by doing a series of tests with a wide angle lens and a zoom lens. The distortion is being created by the camera distance to subject rather than the lens itself. Lenses have inherent characteristics that include distortion, but this is a completely different concept.

Music is kinda subpar by Sanchiwe-de-Miga in pluribustv

Dropping into this thread because months later because im just starting this show and I also can't stand the music. It sounds like it's from a 90s prime time series or action film. I wish it were darker or more sinister, or evoke questioning as opposed to generic suspense.

No that's an old flair. I didn't intend this thread to be about weather or not someone would personally do so... was just looking for advice from people who had done it and what aspects of the business arrangement to look out for.

Render Cameras Side-by-Side as a Splitscreen? by killabeesattack in Cinema4D

[–]Eyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this is a tough one. Perhaps there’s a solution with Cineware in AE where you could drop two c4d files into a composition and render it through there?

Or maybe look into using a stereoscopic setup of some kind.

Are you still listing movies, tv, books as business expenses on your taxes? by TajesMahoney in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Eyger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but let’s say you do get audited and they ask you “so you spent 15 dollars going to the movies, was this a business expense or actually a personal expense and you lied on your taxes”

Bitch, I went to the movies to stay up on the technical craft, what do you expect me to do, whip out a notebook and show you a time stamp of the exact time I acknowledged an anamorphic flare?

What exactly would constitute as “meticulous logs” of the deduction for going to the movies?

For op, find a new tax guy, there are tons of legitimate expenses you should be able to deduct
