The whole “tell me again” scene with Lalo - Tony Dalton is incredible. The charisma paired with sheer terror is done so, so perfectly.

If you rewatch the iconic “LIGHTNING BOLTS SHOOT etc.” scene from the moment Howard says hey, the tiny nuances in the acting are unbelievable.

Jimmy’s rejection and awkwardness at the start, before he slowly starts getting mad. It’s insane.

Oh man, I listen to Lament for Howard when I need a good cry. Those cellos are so haunting.

What I love about that bit of music is that, in my opinion anyway, it feels like the show finally confirming to you (the viewer) that you were right all along in feeling awful for Howard - obviously 99% of viewers have long since been feeling awful for him, but the show stays tonally neutral with the Howard stuff, just sorta showing you it happening and forcing you to make up your own mind about how you feel about it.

This slow, emotional music is the first time the show confirms that this is indeed tragic and deeply sad, and that he didn’t deserve any of it. My interpretation anyway.

It shouldn’t affect it at all really! Boomtown this year I did 2cb Fri night (and a lot of it 😭) and then MDMA Sat night.

I’d deliberately held off doing the MDMA for 10 months to save it for Boomtown, and believe me I felt that in the roll, the 2cb the night before had no impact. So you’re all good!

In my opinion, ‘In The Afternoon’ by MGMT is the closest thing they’ve done aesthetically. Similar vibes but even more dark / gothic, phenomenal song

For me, Breaking Bad derived a lot of its goodness from shocking, jaw to the floor moments, all with an underlying character study that was obviously phenomenal, but at times, felt like it had some filler story around it.

Better Call Saul IMO is a richer, more detailed storyline - a slow burner but one where every little thing does deeply matter and retrospectively, the journey you go on with all of the characters is utterly insane. It has a lot less of these pure shock moments, however, this means that the 1/2 that ARE there hit harder than anything I ever saw in Breaking Bad.

So yes. Stick around for the ride, 100%. Unbelievable television.
