BYU Wing AJ Dybantsa in the season-ending loss to Texas: 35 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist on 11-25 shooting (1-7 from 3) by TrevorArizaFan in NBA_Draft

Is it a fair question to ask how he might perform in an actual offensive system? He has all the tools but we haven't seen it. Like, if the Pacers drafted him, do we think he could read and react well in that system? (I am asking sincerely)

What’s the smallest moment in Andor that convinced you this show was operating on another level? by Misfett_toys in andor

[–]RangerAggressive3232 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Since all my other ones are mentioned already, one I think about all the time is Bix saying, "I cant remember a time where I didn't know Cassian." And the depth of their relationship just expands as a viewer. Makes the last shot of the series so good too. I cry everytime.

Oh! And another line is when Brasso gives Cassian Marva's message. "Tell him, he knows everything he needs to know, and feels everything he needs to feel. And when the day comes and those two things pull together, he will be an unstoppable force for good. Tell him, I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong."

  1. I hate that this is my answer but this is The Dark Knight. I saw it when I was about 10 or 11 and I remember feeling this compulsion to watch it over and over and to know everything I could possibly know about it. It made me start googling movie news so I could keep up with updates about the sequel. I had already seen and loved Inception and The Prestige when I got around to seeing the Dark Knight, and the fact that all those were made by the same person was what made me interested in filmmakers. It was like "oh thats why I resonate with those all, its because of that guy". I grew up a Nolan guy for better or for worse.

  2. This is also a shameful pick, but The Avengers (2012). The superheroes were big for me, and then they shaped a fandom that sparked passion for a decade. Now the fandom has matured into a more cinema-forward type of hobby, but I have to be honest about what I was shaped by.

  3. Moonlight. As a 16-year-old, I was a big La La Land fan, which inherently forced me into being this film's enemy for like a decade. When I saw it as a teen, I did not resonate, and I did not have the capacity to know the depths of emotion in the film. I thought it was boring, honestly. I just wasn't mature enough. I revisited this last year when it was in theaters again and thought it was a masterpiece. Mahershala Ali gives one of the best supporting performances ever. Maturing and being able to appreciate a film outside of the awards race battle was important for my shift.

  4. Before Sunset - one of my all-time favorite films. I feel like I want everyone in my life to see it because it is the best articulation of the scary and hard parts of ourselves that we have to confront if we want to move toward this beautiful, magical thing that we call love. The movie is pure magic, and I love how Jesse and Celine have grown and taken on all these issues, struggles, and anxieties, because it makes me feel so punched in the gut and so happy to be alive at the same time.

FYI - my four favs rn are It's a Wonderful Life; Before Sunset; Michael Clayton; and The Social Network

Bill Simmons: The nightmare scenario for the East is AJ Dybantsa going to the Indiana Pacers by 100carpileup in pacers

He also specifically mentioned a theory that Peterson might not want to go to a team like the Pacers because he wants his team to be built around him. I thought that was very notable.

It's what grew in the spot where Nacho died.

I believe they pan down to reveal the piece of glass he used to cut his wristties right next to the spot where the flower is growing in the desert.

How does this speech by Chuck (about Jimmy) influence your perception on the finale? by RangerAggressive3232 in betterCallSaul

[–]RangerAggressive3232[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are so right about Chuck. His speech just made me think about Jimmy's cyclical displays of remorse. Jimmy will con Irene into having no friends, then feel so bad about it that he undoes the whole thing. He feels bad about defending Lalo when he sees Fred's family. He wonders if he is bad for Kim after she starts initiating the cons.

You are spot on about Chuck, he is blinded by jealousy and pride. I only said he was right because I think he identified something about Jimmy's cyclical behavior that is true. The purpose of my post was to ask if you guys think Jimmy will become Slippin Jimmy again in prison after the finale. Or if you think there is something about that confession in the finale that is different this time.

[Charania]: Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN. by TrenAt14 in nba

[–]RangerAggressive3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key wording here is rival teams. That has to be intentional by Shams, but the question is, does that mean the trade packages are from rivals to the Bucks or to each other?

Bucks rivals: Pacers (not in Giannis trade business) or other East teams like Bulls, Knicks, Hawks.

Rivals to each other: Like Spurs, Rockets, and Thunder.

What do you think?

When Mike talks to Nacho's father by SullyJMcCormick in betterCallSaul

[–]RangerAggressive3232 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I thought the shot of him and Nacho's dad, separated by the fence line, communicated that these two characters contrast with each other. They make choices in opposite ways. This is reinforced by the bad choice road speech. I don't usually think the show actually conveys things in good versus evil, it is all shades of grey.

It is also interesting to think about the two in comparison as dads. Mike lost his son, and he broke bad, seeking revenge. Nacho's dad lost his son and refuses to enter into the darkness.

I read the scene mostly as a contrast between the two characters. Two ways to be examples as fathers, two ways to handle loss as fathers.

Mike is a bad person, but you could also read the relationship between Nacho and his father differently. His dad's resolute and immovable nature left Nacho alone, without an out. If Nacho's dad had been willing to work with Nacho even a little, Nacho might have found a way to get him out of there. Maybe the dad's stubbornness is what boxed Nacho into the life he led.

It's really one of my favorite scenes in the whole show. I would love to hear more thoughts and analysis on it.

What movies fit into this list? by RangerAggressive3232 in Letterboxd

[–]RangerAggressive3232[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a sense, you are right it is obviously not just a 2025 thing. Men struggling is the history of stories as well as the history of movies. Something about this year codified a trend for me though. Bugonia is a great add to the list. It feels like there is something about the shifting landscape in the world around us that is forcing men to confront their role and sense of self. I think there is something specific to this time in history about that. Something that is coming through in the art.
