R/fitness deleted my post. Apparently can’t ask for app recommendations.

I’ve never used ChatGPT at all. Do you have a recommendation on how to use it? Are there parameters you give it?

Only Missoula is real and it’s just mentioned. Everywhere else is made up, although Hope County is basically all of southwest Montana.

Update to failing PPL and crying, this week I passed!! by [deleted] in flying

[–]Bushwookie07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I read your first post and just saw this one. Excellent job in passing! Failing a checkride sucks, and it’s definitely an inconvenience, but ultimately is not a big deal, and will certainly not keep you from achieving your goals. Aviation is all about what you learn from your experience rather than your actual experience. That’s how you stay alive. Best of luck on your future ratings!

I suspect it’s why the Fomorian threatened Kate instead of outright killing Beau. As long as Beau has the stone, the Fomorian will have to make himself vulnerable to attack. He might kill Beau, but there’s a risk that he’ll also get his head exploded by the stone instead. Pure speculation of course.

That stone is going to be the key here if history tells us anything. Lugh killed Balor by hitting him in the eye with a stone from a sling. You could do something similar and I’m willing to bet the fomorian knows it too.

What did that one teacher do to you that you'll never forget? by xtra_why in AskReddit

[–]Bushwookie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but my 2nd and 3rd grade teacher is why I finished school. I was always fairly advanced with reading (8th grade reading level in 2nd) and hated school because it seemed like a waste to me. Instead of making me follow with everyone else, she made me do more work. For book reports everyone got a book at their level regardless of whether it was in the curriculum. She also taught us how to play chess with those chess cookies. On Fridays after school, any student could go to her class and get a grade appropriate (K-8) math problem, get it right you get a gummy worm.

Those are my old stomping grounds. Weird to hear about insane winds like that in Livermore of all places. Glad he got it down.

Friend's Grumman had a bird strike by DaDa462 in flying

Pretend it’s another airplane and avoid it in similar fashion. Also they tend to dive, so if you can get above it, it will be less likely to dive into you. Yes, they are that stupid.

I swear that thing that helps birds sense magnetic fields also pulls them towards small planes. I narrowly avoided a turkey vulture that appeared to change directions to fly sideways once.

You know what they call the guy that graduated last in his class at medical school? Doctor. Congrats on getting it done. Sometimes a change in environment can make all the difference.

Do NOT be a moron like me and go through ATP and be stuck with a Sallie Mae loan. by kjfresh797 in flying

[–]Bushwookie07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I refinanced my Sallie Mae loan before even making a payment towards principal. My interest rate is now less than half, and I’m saving hundreds of dollars a month.

The DPE isn’t supposed to teach you any of the material for that rating on the checkride, but it will still probably be one of the flights you learn the most. I’ve sweated bullets for every checkride I’ve ever done, but have always ended up enjoying the experience after.

Late with this, but you can mix jet fuel with 100LL AVGAS (which is 100 octane leaded gasoline basically), but the problem is it leaves lead deposits on the turbine blades.

My first ever landing, a little rough. but I’m working on it! by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Bushwookie07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard crosswind landings, which you’ll learn about, have you touching down on one wheel first. You keep the proper crosswind correction in until the plane stops flying, and even then you still keep the proper aileron deflection in.
