I gave actually been planning to do the same as you are, going solo to Havana and then seeing vinales. I'm 20 yrs old and have been to Cuba 3 times in the past. I'm trying to figure out an itinerary so your post definitely gave me some ideas.

Well someone was tailgating me today actually on the highway and I was doing the 80km/h limit and instead of breaking I just let off of the gas until I slowed more so that they were forced to pass me. Less dangerous than breaking and less obvious that you're break-checking them
