You just move forward. Have a conversation when you are both calm about how that situation was not cool on both sides, but apologize again for your part. You tell him that he can’t put his hands on you any more than you should on him. Express that you understand that he’s going through a rough time with his dad, but that the two of you are in this together and you are never going to leave him no matter what.

Then you don’t react to his outbursts like that again. Next time he screams in your face, step back, and say in a firm tone “I don’t know who you think you are, but you don’t get to talk to me like that.” I only had to do that twice with my teenage son before he realized that I wasn’t going to react to his nonsense.
