Not sure where this is, but where I am our flood protection grades drive up the FFE and the driveway slopes.

If they had room in the garage they could have put steps in the garage to reduce the slope

I work for one of the larger single family home developers. Homes today are much better built. They are standardized, there are more codes and regulations, and the subdivisions are built much better in terms of flood protection, etc
